2018 Muskegon (MI) OL Antwan Reed offered by Michigan
Michigan just offered 2018 Muskegon OT Antwan Reed (6-7, 275). He grew up a Michigan fan, but likes MSU and Penn State right now too along with VA Tech.
As a Muskegon alum, it would be awesome to get him in the 2018 class. He's only played one full season of football, but his athleticism, size and potential are all on the high end.

wow, that's a big dude for 2018. about 20-25 lbs away from from being a B1G linemen already!
FYI, 247 says he's 286, with UM and MSU as top contenders; 67% ballz to the good guys. obviously a little ways to go before he signs lol

yeah i get your point - but theres obviously a huge difference bw doughy, less developed 300 lb high school prospects and grown men whove put in work and sweat to transform their frames into game-ready 300 lbs.
not busting chops bc i get what youre saying, just pointing out that only so many prospects (particularly OL / DL) show up like laremy tunsil or cam robinson (or ben braden, etc) ready to ball and truly compete physically as 17-18 yr olds.
even a rare dude like mason cole, who proved he was ready at 18, has most likely overhauled his body over several years and still has room to develop. just one of many reasons why its so difficult to eval teenage prospects and project several years down the line

All very good points, +1 for you, good sir. More than the weight, I was impressed by the height, seems like he could play inside or out.
But I agree that there is definitely a difference between good weight and bad weight. He seemed like a lean 280 from the pic, so here is hoping any more lbs come in as muscle!
Most 6'7" guys are automatically slated for tackle because their arm length allows for them to keep pass rushers from engaging them. It also seems to be that taller guys have a harder time keeping their pad level low, which is necessary to move 300 pounders in the run game, who generally play inside. I'm guessing he is a tackle all the way.
He's definitely a tackle.
I don't think pad level is much of a problem with him. He's a pretty natural bender.

He better have a high ceiling if he doesn't want to keep ducking with that frame

I believe Rivals is going to release their 2018 ratings this summer.

Wow, he looks pretty good for only having played one season of football.
Odd that he is a M fan, but is considering sparty right now.
Hope he comes to his senses.
I'm always impressed how much talent Muskegon puts out for being a fairly small city and just a single high school in it. They usually have at least 1 or 2 Power 5 caliber recruits a year.
Muskegon is the largest city on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan. People are very passionate and loyal to their sports teams over here.
theres much more than one single high school.

True, Muskegon has been doing it for years.
Muskegon Mona Shores also puts out quite a bit of talent. They had a few FBS recruits in the 2016 class, IIRC, mostly to MAC schools.
You are correct. Miami (OH), Toledo, Western Mich... I went to shores, but a decade ago it was known as a hockey school (thanks to Abdelkader). They are finally coming into their own on the football field.
Uggg... that makes me feel old.
I was at Shores when they STARTED the hockey program... back then we we're a golf/gymnastics school.

Didn't Shores become relevant because Muskegon Heights HS closed down and a lot of those guys ended up at Shores? I feel like that's why they've seen a significant uptick in football relevancy

Actually it was more related to students moving due to school of choice as opposed to Heights shutting down.
Single high school????!??
Try 9 high schools (Muskegon High, Muskegon Heights, Mona Shores, Reeths Puffer, Orchard View, North Muskegon, Oakridge, Muskegon Catholic Central, West Michigan Christian).
Yes, I am from Muskegon.
But yes, only one or two of those schools are sending people to play division 1 football.
Would be first Muskegon kid since Terrance Taylor. That's pretty surprising given the success of the program. Taylor might be the last kid we've even offered not counting Ronald Johnson. Maybe Damon Knox (MSU) had an offer?
Great to see this!
I work probably 100 yards from their High School and saw Swag Mattison was in town. I was devastated i didnt get a chance to meet him.

But hopefully this time around we get and keep him!?
From what I am told the kid's family really loves Alabama.
so he can see Antwan in drills
