2014 adidas Michigan gear at M-Den out

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

I do this thread every year. I actually really like the stuff they've got this year.

I buy Champion at Moe's with simple block lettering. Unpretentious, solid, no-nonsense, unadorned, classic, traditional, timeless.

If you think it's boring, fine, but it doesn't look like it came from a Meijer gas station.

Just my, like, opinion but do not like.

The sweater with the back stripe is alright I guess, but the hats are all designed for 15 year old kids living in 2012.

You've got two classic colors that look great together.  Why make everything all cluttered and grafix-ish like it came off the clearance rack at Kohls?  My 1980's trapper keeper just called, it wants its general level of tackiness back.

Those are a major step back from last years and even the first two years of the adidas polos. A lot of the adidas stuff is ok but when they try and get creative it really falls apart. Maybe it's just me being boring but less is more in my veiw and not just for Michigan gear.

I like that the "M" is embroidered versues the screen print Nike uses on their polos but the  stripe on the shoulders is just strange. It reminds me of a blank nameplate. I do think some of the Nike stuff looks better but they are just as guilty of using the same template for every school mixing in strange colors and making the "swoosh" just as prominant as the university logo. Neither company seems to care that we are Michigan, Michigan St., Alabama, ND, etc fans and not fans of adidas or Nike.

Wolv Devotee shows a dozen or so new items (I assume he would be the one to know what was and wasn't available last year) and everyone goes on this "everything is crap" kick.  If you go to the Mden site, there is an adidas section with literally hundreds of different choices for just about every taste.

You can still get your traditional Block M stuff.  These are not the only choices.

Adidas is just like any other company and try to cater to as many potential customers as possible.  What you or I may look at and see "hot garbage", somebody else might love.  I definitiely do not like a lot of the examples the OP put up, but I am not OUTRAGE about it either.

I know this is the internet and only HOTFASHIONTAKES are permitted, but c'mon.

Here's some more stuff.  Some of it is actually pretty good and what everything from Adidas should be like.  It looks like it might be for the golf team though.

But yeah, I agree that some of that stuff is questionable.  It seems like Adidas spends all of their money on soccer and the NBA and they do a good job with that IMO.

...that M-Den was not carrying Addidas and this was a sign we were going back to Nike. Man the '90's Michigan gear was so cool. Even out here in LA you couldn't go anywhere without seeing kids wearing fab five shorts or Michigan football shirts. I digress... EDIT: that stuff looks like the knock off crap you would find at Meijer's back in the day.

WolvDev posts about the new crazy ass Adidas gear.  He only highlights the weirdest of the weird.  We all understand why.  He's a batshit crazy teenage superfan who already has every single normal piece of Michigan clothing that exists.  Why would he share all of the normal options Adidas puts out consistently?

Grown men and women throw temper tantrums and complain that they wish there was something normal.  These neckbearded mouthbreathers never even bother to go look at the website.  Go look at the website.  Even if you want to limit the options to Adidas apparel, you will find almost everything people are whining about.

There are normal maize polos.  There are normal blue polos.  There are plain blue hats with a maize block M.  There are plain maize hats with a blue block M.  There are normal shorts and jackets.  Almost every single thing people are begging Adidas to make exists.  Most of you just like complaining.

Some of you idiots act like WolvDev's post is the extent of all of the Michigan Apparel released by Adidas this year.

Just the new stuff like the new player gear and sideline wear. Like you said, there's no point posting the normal stuff like the standard essentials.

The sideline/coaches/player/travel gear. That stuff is renewed every year. I usually go for the plain hats myself. They do exist.

Here's a photo I bet you'll all love. This was after Purdue in 2011.

You know there are millions of other designs out there.  You probably own most of them.  I'm criticizing the MGoIdiots who bitch about the lack of standard/traditional/classic designs. Even though they're right on the MDen website for everyone to see, let's blame Brandon and Adidas.

The official fitted baseball hat is great but they are always out of stock in my size. I've called every M-Den and they only have it in size 7 5/8 and larger.

I also wish they would bring back the skinny M hats Lloyd wore back in the 90's.

And what about the script Michigan hockey jersey...

Some things you can't get at MDen. Whether it be size or color. That's when you go the route of Fanatics/FansEdge.

Nike, is the one who got rid of the script Michigan jersey. NOT adidas. That jersey has been gone for over ten years now. There have been TWO Nike design changes with the Maize jersey since they got rid of that. The block M and the diagonal which was later picked up by adidas.

Some of the hats are just ridiculously designed. Nothing beats a blue hate with the maize M in the center.

Also, that white track jacket is awesome, but I'll bet (without looking online) it is $80+.

The student shirt and visor are the only things that even look decent. The rest of the items are a flaming bag of dog poo. Not only would I not buy any of these items, but if someone were to gift them to me I would immediately take them to goodwill. I couldn't even try to put it on eBay because no one can possibly be dumb enough to pay money for these items. Someone please get Nike back fergodsakes. I also realize that there are many plain items to be bought as well that are fine. But any apparel company could just slap a block M on a hat and have it look fine. The stuff Nike used to put out regularly looked much much better. I can't remember so many total whiffs by them. I would never buy the Adidas hats anyway, New Era is where it's at for hats.

I cannot believe all of the whining for Nike. You can keep them and their shady business practices and corrupt support of the Oregon program. The last merchandise I purchased from them was junk and fell apart in no time. The M brand makes the gear, not the manufacturer. There is plenty of excellent adidas stuff. Stop whining, and act like Michigan Men.

The majority of these look so cheap and recycled. I'm just not very impressed with the products Adidas has created for ANY school. Seems like they ran out of ideas about 3 years ago. Ugly, ugly shit.

I would only buy the white pull over. What the fuck is up with the hats? They have some strange slightly darker blue stripes on a slightly lighter blue base.

Adidas is hot garbage. My wife just bought me a pairf of climalite mesh shorts, and they have holes in them after getting washed one time. last adidas shirt I bought started coming apart at the seams after only a couple of rounds of golf. Its just awful quality, and not because Im a "we were better when we wore Nike" guy

And most of you forget or are to young to remember Nike telling us yes that us MICHIGAN to go kick rocks. They basically turned there back on us not the other way around. Most people forget that the Nike Camp used to be on Michigan's Campus and they told us w a big middle finger were moving it to OSU and basically cutting off our feet.

I'm sick of the Nike love. For all I care I hope they never go back to them after the way they treated us and told us to bounce etc. offering us a low ball deal so we would leave! Fuck Nike. Under Armour and Adidas w be opening up there check books again, but no way we get a better deal then ND, I'm sure it's written somewhere. But most of you guys just don't remember Nike screwing us over so I say screw them.

Visor is nice, shorts are ok, the polo shirt and sweater at the top are meh due to the back stripe, the yellow football shirt is pretty good, the rest is just terrible.

Only two more seasons until the Adidas contract is up. For the sake of the program I really hope Brandon listens to the his players and the fans and doesn't re-sign with them.
