Oh my, I've hit Enter without posting.
I wanted to ask what everyone was up to in 2006 when we played ND. I remember that game as a "statement game." A lot of national media expected us to lose. We were all concerned. Then Henne started throwing darts all over the place to Mario Manningham. I spent the majority of that game in an urgent care tending to a friend whose finger we thought I broke while throwing a football around.
That was the last time we won a road game where the following narrative was "don't fuck with Michigan." I'm having a feeling that sentiment is repeated tomorrow.

Great story. I hope you're right!
September 20th, 2019 at 7:10 PM ^
So I'm trying to understand. You missed a Mich/Notre Shame game due to a friend who couldn't be in an urgent care surrounded by medical professionals without you and without any real injury?
Hope for your both of your sakes this "friend" was your girlfriend.

Dude, I threw the ball that we thought broke his finger. I kept leaving and going to the lobby, and would relay what happened. It was really weird. We still laugh about it to this day.

For future reference, popsicle stick and duct tape.
Problem solved.

Sounds like it might have been a dislocation. Just gotta yoink it back in place. Easy for me to say, I know . . .

No sports injury has ever been successfully treated without rubbing some dirt into it.

Sitting in Notre Dame stadium, relishing it
September 21st, 2019 at 10:45 AM ^
Me too. Pretty much grinned ear to ear the entire game. Jumped on them and just kept pouring it on.
September 20th, 2019 at 7:00 PM ^
I was sitting in my living room watching the game in a bit of a glorious shock. I can't believe that was the last road win vs. a ranked team. Please put that shit to bed tomorrow.
P.S. That shit was put to bed in 2016....until it wasn't.
September 20th, 2019 at 7:04 PM ^
False. We beat the juggernaut #24 MSU Spartans in EL last year. No monkey. No monkey.
September 20th, 2019 at 8:30 PM ^
ND wasn't just ranked. I think they were #2. I had a big ol' stunned smile on my face watching that game.
September 20th, 2019 at 10:44 PM ^
Yes -- they were #2.
One of the results of that game was Michigan being a little overrated. ND had a good year (10-3) but not "#2 in the country" good.
Still, an awesome road win. Hasn't been surpassed by any that occurred afterward .....

Getting drunk with my friend Mike in his living room on division street, jumping up and down and yelling at the screen in joy. We were seniors.

Was at my cousin's soccer game listening on the radio in the car.
September 20th, 2019 at 7:07 PM ^
In Las Vegas! Ran into a few Ohio State fans in the bar and they said, "you guys look pretty good." Man what a crappy thirteen years since that glorious day (for Michigan football that is).
September 20th, 2019 at 7:07 PM ^
I'm old. I know I watched the game but can't remember.
September 20th, 2019 at 7:10 PM ^
I was being 13 years younger watching the game in AZ.
September 20th, 2019 at 7:12 PM ^
Listening on the radio while watching my son play soccer.
September 20th, 2019 at 7:15 PM ^
I was watching a better Michigan team than the one playing tomorrow.
September 20th, 2019 at 7:17 PM ^
Cutting grass and listening on the radio. Can still remember exactly where I was in the yard when Burgess had his pok six, and when Beckmann told me Henne had hit Manningham in stride for the second TD ... Great game.

Terminal leave from the military, but working new FT job. I was pissed that I had to work that day!
September 20th, 2019 at 7:19 PM ^
Probably watching John L. beat Pitt before finishing 4-8. I was a Spartan fan in a previous life. Please don’t neg a reformed dummy.
September 20th, 2019 at 7:21 PM ^
I was in Chicago visiting my then girlfriend (now wife). Watched the game at her apartment in Lincoln Park. I lived in San Diego at the time. She was a flight attendant for Southwest Airlines and she got me free air tickets. Had a ton of fun dating in both cities. Not having to pay for air tickets made our long distance relationship work.
EDIT - I can't believe I called them "air tickets". What the hell is that? How about airfare? How come nobody called me out? Air tickets? Seriously?

Berkeley, Ca at that time, probably sneaked out to the shed just before the game and came back happier right before kickoff. Probably watched on a crappy TV because I was "unplugged" (besides work and michigan football) those days...for some strange reason my memory alludes me on other details....

Cali green will do that to a Michigan boy. Or so I've heard...
September 20th, 2019 at 7:30 PM ^
I was sitting in the end zone basking in the glory of what was that game. Went to school in South Bend so had tailgated with many of my ND friends.
Loved the feel of walking out of that stadium having hammered the Irish. So many great memories!!
September 20th, 2019 at 7:40 PM ^
you win.... but hopefully that's me next year in Seattle!
September 20th, 2019 at 7:45 PM ^
I was in Austin, Texas for the ACL music festival. Went to the fest on Friday then settled in to a local sports bar with a handful of friends for that glorious game.
September 20th, 2019 at 7:48 PM ^
Drinking and watching with a friend at his house, was 25 and it feels like a really long time ago.
September 20th, 2019 at 7:57 PM ^
I was there! Sitting in the end zone, IIRC it was the Michigan section. Opposite end of the Woodley fumble return.
September 20th, 2019 at 8:06 PM ^
We had family at the house fawning over my daughter, who at the time was only about three months old, so I was able to watch the game with relatively few interruptions. Of course, I was able to consume an impressive amount of rum without interruption as a result. How I was able to cook a dinner during all that is still a mystery to me.
September 20th, 2019 at 8:06 PM ^
Was at SAE I believe watching the game on campus. It was a blast watching Quinn get his ass kicked.
September 20th, 2019 at 8:10 PM ^
Sitting in my living room 5 miles away enjoying the beat down but mad that I was at the previous 2 games that we lost at ND.
I won't go there anymore.
Go Blue!!!!
September 20th, 2019 at 8:22 PM ^
Sitting in the Michigan section watching my first road ND game in person.
And loving every minute of it
September 20th, 2019 at 8:23 PM ^
I was there. Row 12 in the southwest corner I believe...with a huge Notre Dame fan.
There was a Notre Dame fan in front of me that kept claiming that the refs were cheating Notre Dame and he would announce the "real score"....eventually he stopped as the onslaught continued.
September 20th, 2019 at 8:46 PM ^
so when you say "huge Notre Dame fan" do you mean can't-find-pants-that-fit huge? our like, really enjoys Notre Dame huge?
September 20th, 2019 at 8:27 PM ^
Had a raucous gathering at one of the huge houses on Monroe. Everyone did celebratory beer bongs as time expired and then ran outside to celebrate with what felt like everyone else on campus. One of the most fun days I had at Michigan.

At the game celebrating better times

I was at a wedding. Just so happens that that particular marriage is currently dissolving. Perhaps the fact that the groom was out in the parking lot watching the game with us during most of the reception may have been an early clue.
September 20th, 2019 at 9:01 PM ^
Bartending at a small local bar/restaurant and just about to punch out to go back to my college town to party.
Once Manningham caught the 2nd TD, I was screaming around the bar and my boss told me I could just bunch out and have a beer and enjoy the ass whooping!
September 20th, 2019 at 9:14 PM ^
Watched at my grandma's (RIP) house with my mom as well. Saw lots of great wins there, including Braylonfest, 49-3 vs MSU, 2003 vs OSU. I knew the onslaught was on when Woodley picked off that went right through the ND receivers hands.
September 20th, 2019 at 9:15 PM ^
We have not talked about their players. We have not talked about their coaches.
We'll talk tomorrow...
September 20th, 2019 at 9:17 PM ^
Watched my buddies play their game then left in the 3rd to get back to my dorm to see Woodley score. That was a great day!

Watching the game on TV at home, not too interesting of a story. But speaking of Charlie Weis...
