Everything great and terrible about the nfl in the final 2 minutes.

2 completely unlikeable teams. Dirty, DANGEROUS, cheap shots, a heroic comeback drive led by an injured qb who probably raped a girl, and the nfl rulebook taking center stage.

That last quarter was incredible. But man oh man does the NFL have problems. I thought Antonio Brown was dead for a second. I think I saw his eyes roll back on that hit.

You'll never hear the critique 'they dont care enough' though.

I still think the final flag was totally uncalled for. Should have just flagged both teams, ejected someone if you felt the need to intervene. I hate when a game gets decided by non-football shit

Would much rather see a 50 yard field goal, or see the steelers have to weigh the risk/benefits of running another play to try to pick up some more yards than a 35 yard chip shot because the ref got bumped when he got in between to players that were jawing...shit that had been happening all game with no consequence

The two final penalties that decided the game were by Burfict and Jones and all I can conclude is that Cincinnati got exactly what they deserved for hiring those two individuals in the first place.

Instead of looking at Marvin Lewis, the Bengals have to look at player personnel directors instead. Vince Lombardi himself can't control guys like Burflict and Pac Man Jones. There's got to be some leadership among the players, and if that's who you bring in for leadership, you're going to have problems, regardless of who is wearing the headset. Million dollar talent. Ten cent head.

Except that Lewis is reportedly very involved in personnel decisions.

It's clear that the Brown family has begun to rely more heavily on Lewis and his coaching staff for personnel decisions, while Blackburn handles contract matters.

That's from 18 months ago; the implication in the article is that the change started in 2011 or thereabouts but they formalized it in 2014. Even if Lewis wasn't involved in the decision to acquire those guys in the first place, he's had plenty of time to object and get them moved if he thought it was necessary.

And maybe he did. Nobody on the outside would know, but Brown certainly does.

...I don't know how this stuff works in a normal organization. Who makes the call on the final 53-man roster--the coach or the GM?

It's hard for me to imagine anyone but Lewis was ultimately responsible for Burfict making the team as an undrafted free agent. But maybe I'm wrong.

The playoff curse continues. Almost any neutral fan in Cincinnati (including myself) knew they'd lose. But that ending was hilariously creul. Glad I won't have to hear that obnoxious Who Dey chant.

...no, it's not funny at all but I'm at a loss for the right word...is that I spent the last week here in Cincinnati listening to Bengals fans who were worried about having to play Pittsburgh because the Steelers are dirty and somebody important, McCarron or Green probably, would end up getting hurt by a cheap shot.

Toussaint had 17 carries for 58 yds and 4 catches for 60.  He also picked up the blitz pretty well as far as I could tell.

Vontaze Burfict is a complete idiot. Pacman Jones isn't too far behind. The Bengals got exactly what they had coming to them by signing those two headcases

That got it going and allowing Porter to cause the final scrum plus calling a penalty on a guy for pretending to try to break through the ref holding him back (only happened about 20 other times tonight without a call). The Bengals did almost enough to lose, but the refs put it over the top. Poor job at 2 key moments.
