$14.8 million renovation coming to Schembechler Hall
Per the latest Board of Regent Agenda, the proposed project -- which will be funded by "athletic department resources and gifts" -- will renovate roughly 24,000 square feet inside Schembechler Hall.
The facility will include new spaces for training recovery and nutrition. In addition, it will feature new team meeting rooms, administrative space and staff locker areas.

- you posted a relevent Michigan article
- your title was specific and to the point
- you posted both a small snipit of information AND a link
Have you learned nothing from the posts these last few days?
the appropriate title would be "Things Happening on Campus". with no link or details.
Tough crowd :)
Does it have a Nap Room though?
How sweet would winged helmet nap pods be?
Pretty awesome - something tells me we will get a nap room over Jim's dead body.
that's what "training recovery" meant.
I'm hoping we will get some nicer hydro-therapy pools/room and some whole body cryotherapy machines. Those are phenomenal.
I would also donate money to a go-kart track for Jim and all future recruits' siblings. Nobody says "Fuck Michigan" after a go-kart race with Jim.

bowling alley and laser tag area?
Let's start with a players lounge.
The Freddy P Soft Family Nap Room
The stuff thep layers and coaches actually use at schembechle (weight room, players lounge, coaches offices, rehab and tarining facilities, metting rooms, players lounge) pretty much haven't been touched since the facility opened up in the late 80's. The facility was becoming very dated and well behind the times.
When you poop money and don't pay your workers, you have to make facility "upgrades".
of what they are getting. Free tutors in a building only athletes can use. Basically a free wardrobe of all Nike gear. Top flight doctors and trainers, plus stipens. I understand it's a lot of work to play football on the DI level, but these guys are compensated just fine for it and don't need to be paid. If what they receive is not enough then stop playing and pay for your school like any other regular student.
...and travel the world each May (including a great study abroad opportunity).
for about $35 million, that is quite the upgrade going on there. Have to believe it will be as nice as any facility in the country when done.
and they can train in the Taj Mahal for all I care.
How many more times does Schembechler have to be renovated? Feels like a yearly thing at this point.
When Schembechler Hall first opened it was one of the best football facilities in the country. In fact it was built in direct response to MSU opening their own facility that was better than Michigan's and Bo finding out about it. The football team outgrew Schembechler Hall a long time ago and it probably should have been torn down when that happened. That option came off the table once Brandon decided to renovate the football museum, but the rest of the inside of the building hasn't recieved much attention. They have renovated the locker room and repurposed a commons room for trianing table, but haven't touched the office spaces, sports medicine areas, weight room, team meeting rooms etc. Even schools like Kentucky are opening brand new $45 million dollar football facilities. Kentucky! This has been needed for a long time.
I also don't think most people realize the investments being made into football facilitites across the country. It's not just the powerhouse schools anymore, it's everyone. You should see some of these places being built, they are incredible. A general rule of thumb is that the football program should have at least one capitol project ongoing at all times. If you don't you are falling behind. The stadium locker room should be next.
