  • Mike Sainristil - 2nd team coaches, 1st team media
  • Mason Graham - 1st team coaches, 3rd team media (lol)
  • Junior Colson - 2nd team coaches & media
  • Kris Jenkins - 2nd team coaches & media
  • Kenneth Grant - 2nd team coaches, 3rd team media
  • Mike Barrett - 3rd team coaches, Honorable Mention media
  • Rod Moore - 3rd team coaches, HM media
  • Jaylen Harrel - HM coaches & media
  • Braiden McGregor - HM coaches & media
  • Derrick Moore - HM coaches & media
  • Josh Wallace - HM coaches & media
  • Makari Paige - HM coaches
  • Josaiah Stewart - HM coaches
  • James Turner - 2nd team coaches, HM media
  • Tommy Doman - 3rd team coaches, HM media
  • Semaj Morgan - HM coaches & media

One interesting observation: in every instance in which there is a discrepancy between coaches & media, with the exception of Mikey Sainristil, the coaches ranked the player higher than the media 🤔

That's all?

Honestly, looking over the list, I think a bunch of these players got held down a level 1st-2nd-3rd-HM just because of the embarrassment of riches it would display if they were all 1st/2nd team like is probably true.

Happy for him but how did Semaj Morgan make it? He had like 6 kick returns all year, right? And I don't remember more than 1 getting to our own 40?

Here are some stats from ESPN:

Doman: 43.6 yards per punt, 40.9 net, 14/36 (38.9%) inside the 20.

Mirco: 42.6 yards per punt, 38.9 net, 15/42 (35.7%) inside the 20.

It's closer than I would have thought based on Saturday, and I think Mirco would have come out slightly ahead prior to The Game.  It was Mirco's worst game of the season. In 7 of his games, he punted for an average of 43 yards or more, and his best game was against Penn State: 6 punts for 285 yards. Even so, Doman comes out ahead.

That said, as I look at Doman's stats on both ESPN and elsewhere, someone screwed up his stat line in the Penn State game. It lists him as averaging under 30 yards per punt in that game, which I think we'd all remember.  What happened is that he had 5 punts, but they didn't include a 47 yarder in the total, so they divided 4 of his punts by 5. He actually averaged 39.2 yards per punt for that game.  If you add that to his season totals he averaged over 44.9 yards per punt. It really isn't close between the two of them.
