Even the lawyers are getting in to it

If you are a news junkie (as I am) you may know the names Joyce Vance and Barbara McQuade.  Both are former US Attorneys (Vance in Alabama, McQuade in Michigan---can you guess where this is going?) who often appear as "talking heads" on various newscasts; they also co-host (with a couple of other female attorneys) a podcast series titled "Sisters-in-law."  McQuade was a sports editor for the Michigan Daily before becoming an attorney.  Anyway, the two had a friendly bet prior to the Rose Bowl, which Barb McQuade of course won.  This picture shows Joyce Vance as the losing party:

The dog seems to be in the proper mood---must have been born in the UP---but Joyce does look a tad deflated.  To her great credit, she posted this picture in her newsletter along with the additional comments:

"On New Year’s Day, I lost a bet to my good friend Barb McQuade, former U.S. Attorney in Michigan and current professor of law at the University. I was sad The Tide lost, but I fulfilled my end of the bargain and donned the 'fabulous' Michigan attire Barb sent to me. And to prove I’m a good sport, I’ll be pulling for Michigan Monday night, because I believe in being there for my friends. I’ll even use the Michigan coffee cup Barb sent me for my Monday morning cup of Joe. No matter our differences, we can always find a way to come together when it counts."

Check the fine print.

Dog is definitely from Michigan.

Well done Ms. Vance.

Mattbgreat, Bama fan saw the light as well and unlike vanquished rivals nearer to us has showed class. Props!

I listened to that Alabama podcast yesterday where the host was EXTREMELY complimentary towards Michigan fans.

But dude, Alabama’s team and their fans have been nothing but classy from the minute the matchup was announced all the way to today.

I will never ever root for them, but they get props

"Even" the lawyers?  At last week's Association of American Law Schools conference, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson was the plenary session speaker.  When asked for a prediction for the national championship game, she said, "Go Blue.  Of course."  (Someone in the audience responded by yelling "Go Huskies."  Boo that person.)

Barb McQuade was one of the Trump firing all of the US Attorneys, along with her whole staff, who have all gone on to better things.  One of which is a federal immigration judge, another is a partner at Pepper Hamilton.  Rock on Trump.
