It's a good hoops day.

According to The Athletic's Brendan Quinn, Wake Forest transfer Chaundee Brown was granted a waiver by the NCAA to play this upcoming season:

And while I was writing this, the basketball program made it official:

"First and foremost, whew! I am so thankful and truly blessed for the NCAA, the Big Ten, Michigan and Coach (Juwan) Howard for giving me this opportunity," said Brown. "I also want to thank Wake Forest, Coach (Danny) Manning and all the administrators and fans in Winston-Salem (N.C.) for giving me three unforgettable years. While it took some time, and while I was prepared for any outcome, you cannot believe the smile and how grateful I am.

"Since my arrival in Ann Arbor, I have been welcomed with open arms. I was ready to do whatever I could to help us succeed either on or off the court. All I know is I cannot wait to put that maize-and-blue jersey on and play with this group of guys."

The burly 6'5", 215-pound wing is going to be a significant contributor who likely sees starter-level minutes in his senior season.

Brown's presence on this year's roster provides Juwan Howard with a great deal of lineup flexibility. He has a couple true centers in Austin Davis and Hunter Dickinson, a power forward/small-ball center in Brandon Johns, long and skilled wings in Brown/Wagner/Livers, and a couple lead guard types who can also play off the ball in Eli Brooks and Mike Smith. That leaves out a couple talented freshmen, G Zeb Jackson and W Terrence Williams, who could also crack the rotation.

Now we just need a season. We'll have much more hoops coverage as that gets worked out.
