Good news, everybody! I forgot about Daxton Hill whilst envisioning the future Green, Hill, Green, Hill-Green back seven! It's on the table!

GURU RANKINGS

Rivals ESPN 24/7 Composite
3*, not ranked
#30 OLB, #17 MD
4*, 80 rating
#25 OLB, #11 MD
4*, #274 overall
#22 OLB, #7 MD
3*, #373 overall
#28 OLB, #14 MD

The only service that provided an explanation was 24/7.

SCOUTING

Surprisingly barren, even for 2019. Aside from a brief mention after the UA Baltimore camp from 24/7 (not top 5 on D, "moved well in drills," "change of direction stood out") the only recent scouting on Hill-Green anywhere is a story that Brian Dohn posted a few hours ago. You should subscribe to read the bulk of it—it's a good piece and subs will create more of them. A snippet:

…size and moves with fluidity inside the box. … diagnoses plays and reacts quickly. …athletic and changed direction well. He played downhill and stood out on a very talented team.

Hill-Green does feel like a heady diagnose-and-go inside linebacker based on his highlight film. All caveats about highlight film apply, but since we've got almost nothing else to go on I will say that Hill-Green's tape has a lot of well-timed decisions to go hit something, and a bit of a Jake Ryan upfield burst when he makes that decision. He's not in Bush's class—who is?—but fits well in the same role.

FWIW, there were a couple different Hill-Green interviews in which he said he had a specific plan for the future:

“I want to do finance in college, so it’s about having the opportunity to get a good degree, and hopefully I can go to grad school after that,” he said. “Some schools have a three-year plan, and I want to do something like that, go get my grad degree the last two years.”

He plans to enroll early, facilitating that plan. Hill-Green seems like a high academic kid, like a lot of his behyphen'd brethren.

[After THE JUMP: more Hills. More Greens.]

OFFERS

Hill-Green announced a top five of Michigan, Wisconsin, Pitt, Purdue, and Indiana shortly before his commitment. He also fielded offers from VT, BC, Nebraska, and WVU along with some smaller schools.

HIGH SCHOOL

Hill-Green is Michigan's third commit from St. Frances, the school Biff Poggi coaches at. St. Frances has become a magnet for D-I prospects since Poggi's arrival, to the point where teams don't want to play them any more, and is currently churning out a ton of prospects annually. In addition to Hill-Green, Osman Savage, and Micah Mazzccua, Michigan has the only crystal ball picks for St. Frances RB Blake Corum.

FWIW, Hill-Green only moved to Maryland this year. He's really from Pittsburgh, which helps explain the shape of his top five a bit.

STATS

I couldn't find any.

FAKE 40 TIME

Neither did I turn up a 40 time.

VIDEO

Oddly, there's also an extensive highlight film of him from the Rivals camp he attended:

You can maybe learn a couple things about a player's fluidity in these settings but I certainly hope LB ratings don't take those into account much.

PREDICTION BASED ON FLIMSY EVIDENCE

Hill-Green's been to some camps and didn't have offers that make his ranking look silly, so I'd imagine he sticks in about the same rankings range for the rest of the cycle. He'll come in as a squat, vertical linebacker who might end up feeling like a mortal version of Devin Bush. With two other linebackers in this class he'll have a significant amount of competition to claw through. Best bet is that he's an upper-class contributor.

UPSHOT FOR THE REST OF THE CLASS

As mentioned, Hill-Green is the third linebacker in the class along with teammate Osman Savage and West Bloomfield's Cornell Wheeler. Michigan is still pursuing four star MA LB Kalel Mullings and three star MD LB Mitchell Melton; have to imagine that there's one spot left, if that.

I keep seeing that he's 6'1" but he looks way taller than everyone he stands next into his highlight tape and the Rivals film. That height has to be outdated
