It's not a dramatic one, we hope, but welcome to Early Signing Day for the 2024 class. Our recruiting board lives here. Our Signing Day Livepod with Steve Lorenz of 247 will be at noon. Tune in on Youtube or catch the podcast version afterwards. We'll have this page stickied most of the day so scroll down for news that posts.

WHAT WE'RE WAITING ON

Edge prospect Lugard Edokpayi is choosing between Michigan and closer-to-home Maryland today. Announcement is at noon. The crystal balls point to Michigan after Edokpayi canceled an FSU trip to extend his Ann Arbor visit.

PROBABLY NOT SIGNING TODAY

Idaho WR Gatlin Bair is also still on the table, but is reportedly waiting until February. Michigan has led at several points to either side of his commitment and decommitment from Boise State, but Oregon has made up ground. He's also taking a Mormon mission for two years after he graduates so that's more of a 2026 class thing.

Michigan was still trying to pluck a receiver but IN 5* Nitro Tuggle signed with Georgia this morning, and Virginian 3-stars Mekhai White and Chanz Wiggins are expected to stick [update: stuck] with Maryland and Virginia Tech, respectively.

That's it. Sit back and watch Ohio State's class try to stay together, and we'll see you at noon.

Again, I think you're putting way too much bearing on where Michigan lands in the "ranking" of classes. Why does it matter if the transfer class ranks outside of the top 50 and the recruiting class isn't top 10? I wouldn't care if they were both ranked 133rd if the players that come in make the team better and help them win games.

What's so funny about recruiting rankings is that linemen seem to have less impact on them than skilled position players.  Yet first and foremost, the ability to condition and develop linemen is the most important part of winning. If you don't believe that, do you think Michigan would have made the playoffs a couple of years ago if their average lineman was the equivalent in ability of Cade McNamara? Yet unless you do genetic testing that's better than anything that exists today, you might as well do a coin flip if you want to predict which high school linemen will become big enough, strong enough or quick enough. If Michigan had its lines from 2022 every year it would beat OSU every time with its reasonably above-average skilled position players. The obvious conclusion is that rankings are overrated.

This is an important point. I’m not worried about the overall ranking of the class as much as where we are in the important positions: QB, O-line, D-line, cornerback. And whether that is built through the draft (out of high school) or free agency (transfer portal), it doesn’t really matter.

Bair has had two opportunities to commit to Michigan, and has declined to pull the trigger both times. It may not matter now since he’s two years away from playing, but I’m skeptical he will end up in a Michigan uniform.

What is an opportunity? He's had a chance every hour, day, month, to commit to Michigan. I understand he already picked Boise, so that's for sure one chance, but he's still on his second chance to commit, just because he chose to not sign yesterday means nothing other than he could be having a hard time making the choice. Should Oregon fans feel they same way because he didn't pick them the first time, and then didn't sign with them yesterday? Think we need to give these kids some grace when making a tough choice about their future.

Loving the DE from the DMV haul.  All three look pretty good on tape.  Also like we have a bunch of nasty baller types.  More of the Mason Graham types please!

Just missing high high end skill position (and maybe across board) talent, you'd expect to see in Non-Michigan programs with our level of success.  Guess its not a surprise anymore...but its still a surprise to me.

Solid class, but transfer portal going to keep us elite.  That Maryland kid is going to have biggest impact soonest.  Huge get there.
