As DJ VIGIL continues we attempt to generate content that will hold your interest without taking too much effort because as soon as we have a stay or go on him you won't remember anything else that happened today. FWIW, Webb said he thinks DJ will return on WTKA this morning but declined to offer a gut feeling. This section should have been in Star Wars crawl format.

Possible position switch news from Jim Harbaugh's appearance on Pardon My Take:

“I told one of our players, Ben Mason, who’s a freshman linebacker—he early enrolled, he went through spring practice. I’ve never seen anybody go forward and hit somebody better. I think this guy was just made to be a fullback.”

While the phrasing there is not 100%, Michigan did discuss FB with Mason during his recruitment and there is a serious need. Michigan does not have a scholarship fullback other than the two fifth year seniors currently manning the position. With Michigan adding Josh Ross, Drew Singleton, and Jordan Anthony at the ILB spots Mason is a candidate to play, this move had been anticipated for a while by the kind of people who anticipate moving people to fullback. (Read: us.)

In other news, Jim Harbaugh talked to PFT Commenter for an extended period of time. What a world.

I got very excited when he started his interview off mentioning a guy that no one has paid a whole lot of attention to this spring.

Mason might be the lead candidate for starting fullback in 2018. Not sure if Mike Hirsch would still be on the team then, and you have to think Mason would certainly be in front of him anyways.

With two starting quality fullbacks and presumably a lot of linebackers ahead of Mason I really hope he redshirts. But if he can hit like Harbaugh says I could see him used on kick coverage to blow people up.

I like the move. There is a good opportunity for a guy like him to really nail down a spot as a FB. FB's on this team can be DUDE's and he can probably get on the field and more often as a FB.

the signing of the stars event in February.  When he came up to the stage and sat down, you could just tell he has the look and demeanor of a hard-nosed football player.  He was looking around the audience like he was looking for someone to hit.  I can't wait to see him at either FB or LB.

this kid can hit people plus he is very athletic - can catch, run and block out of the backfield - can also be the H-Back. Would not shock me to see him make the FB rotation during the season in lesser games or mop-up duty, definitely could be a contributor on special teams. I doubt he redshirts if he switches to FB. BTW, at 17 he could bench 450 lbs.

If he likes to hit, then he's a great dude for the job. Give me a team with fullbacks and safeties that can knock the opposing teams star players on their asses at a full sprint and you have the intimidation factor. No second or third level defender wants to keep getting jacked up by a 240 or 250 lb. horse 30 times a game. It wears on you and it hurts. That's what this team needs. Mean and cocky blockers on the line and a fullback who wants to destroy. A fullback that has the coordination to put a shouler into your chest at close to his top end speed and knock you on your ass. That's when this running game dominates.
