OT - Reddit CFB Risk Update 5/14: ALL OUT WAR
Thank you guys for your dedicated participation as of late. We are now by far the largest team in the game because of your guys' participation. Unfortunately our team has been hit by a bit of a nerf. 1/2 star users have been weakened by some unspecified multiplier. We are the most dependent on 1/2 stars in the games because of how much support we have gotten from you guys. We are just going to have to strategize better to work around it.
Today was another stepback. We retained 5 of our 6 most important territories yesterday. Unfortunately that 6th that OSU obtained (with only a 22% chance to win compared to our 78%, ugh) gives them options to attack a lot of our territories. So we have a bit of a hole that we have to work out of, but we can definitely do it. So we are working on reconsolidating our hold in the NorthEast and pushing back against OSU.
Here are the official suggested orders for today if you're a non-Discord user and are just following along from these posts:
Birthday in January-April: DEFEND Syracuse
Birthday in May-August: DEFEND Army
Birthday in September-December: DEFEND Rutgers
Below are a few messages about recent updates with the game and instructions to join and play if you are new.
The creators of the game recently increased the aggressiveness of their bot detection to prevent the use of bots/alternate accounts. If you have created a brand new reddit account to participate in this game, then we need you to check the game page to ensure you don't see the message in below. If you see this, you are being flagged as a bot and your moves are not counting. Please DM reddit.com/u/bakonydraco to get the situation sorted out.
So follow the instructions and contact the r/CFBRisk mods if that happens. Also, the CFBRisk mods have indicated that they may start marking accounts as bots if they aren't "users on R/CFB". So we ask that in order to keep yourself eligible that when you go to vote everyday: just take a look at the CFB subreddit and make a post or two. There should be always something on the front page Michigan-related that you can drop a quick take on.
Instructions to Join:
To join all you need to do is go to reddit.com/r/cfb and create an account if you don't already have one. Next, set your flair to Michigan. You can do this by clicking "Select Flair" on the right side of the cfb subreddit. Finally, you can join and play the game at https://vote.redditcfb.com/cfbrisk.php.
If you want to discuss the game in deeper detail and strategize with us, you can join our discord server found here: https://discord.gg/TcZBTcj. We usually announce plans of what we want to attack/defend in the evenings, but we discuss strategy all day. Be warned though, there will be a vetting process to join the discord as we have had some mole issues from OSU. Even if you don’t pass the vetting process, we can still provide less-secret instructions in the general chat so that you can still help us towards our goals until we can fully 100% trust you.
Additionally, we have formed "The Blue Alliance" with Florida and Georgia Tech. If you would like to meme about this, go to: www.reddit.com/r/CFBRisk/
Go Blue!
Instructions as to how to play:
At the beginning of the game. Every team was assigned one single territory, and so every territory is now named after that team. When you go to select an action in the game, you'll see option such as:
"Defend Buffalo", "Attack Penn State", "Attack Kent State".
This means that we border the location that was originally assigned to Penn State and Kent State. If you choose to attack Penn State, you will attempt to take that piece of land next round. Defend Buffalo, means that we currently own Buffalo's original homeland, and defending Buffalo means putting your stars towards keeping Buffalo from being taken.
After you submit what you're doing for the day, just sit back at wait! At Midnight EST all of the picks from all of the teams go in, and a random number generator selects a winner for each territory. Then it all happens again tomorrow.

Here's the map today from 5/14:
No attac?
whatever happened to "the best defense is a good offense!"
Don't be pussies - attack something!
It sounds like the Discordians will be doing the attacking.
that and being "weakened by some unspecified multiplier", the boys are really up against it.
By the way - what is an "unspecified multiplier"? Is that like getting The Clap?
cannot be specified, Sir!
Think it should be the other way around. people on discord should coordinate defense since random users are more likely to attack and it is more difficult to defend effectively than attack
You're so stoned Leroy.
How is OSU able to attain so many territories when we can't even hold on to the ones we have as the game's largest group? This is starting to feel like a real M-OSU football game.
I found this from the link posted above.
The star scaling nerfed one-stars, and made 2-through-5 stars worth a larger number of equivalent one-stars. Keep posting, keep voting, and the star power will grow.
How did OSU get New Hampshire/Vermont today if yesterday they didn't own any territory boarding those states? I guess I don't understand the rules quite yet.
We got Syracuse territory from them and they took UMass territory from us.
Thanks for the explaination.

The lands grows red. Why have we been forsaken?
Bank on it. I hope the MGoStrategizers are anticipating that move.

This seems about right for this game at this juncture:
- Texas trying to regroup in outstate Illinois
- Alabama now diminishing in a two-front war
- Nebraska making huge gains in a vast nothing, which is how they plan to eventually win the Big Ten West

Matt Damon!
I don't play but c'mon, the state of Michigan is a freakin O
You guys have some work to do!!
Go Blue!!
I'm defending army, still not verified on the cfb reddit or the discord.
username same as here on reddit and discord.
Go Blue!
asked my wife the same thing last night...
The biggest issue I have is why are you taking directions / actions on a PUBLC forum. All the other teams basically know what you're doing and can make all this planning pointless. They know you're defending X, they know your NOT attacking Y. So they don't need to defend Y.
Open war is upon you, whether you risk it or not!
