OT: Avicii dead at 28
"He said, "One day you'll leave this world behind
So live a life you will remember."
My father told me when I was just a child
These are the nights that never die
My father told me"
Although I am mainly a rock guy, my music tastes are pretty broad, and Avicii was definitely in there.
I can assure everyone that without "Levels", barely anyone would know of EDM.
A true pioneer of the genre, and so much came out of such a short career.
Too fast man, RIP.
(There is currently an Avicii tribute on BPM Radio on SiriusXM channel 51)
Hearing Avicii immediately brings me back to the dorm pregames and tailgates my freshman year at U-M.
So sad. RIP
Reality is every year that passes people expect people to get soft on drug abuse and addiction. Mental health is a catch all for being stupid and making dumb choices. Let's be real this dipshit took drugs because he figured he was "cool". Stop coddling people who are dumb enough to used hard drugs and expect the result to be different.

So bummed about this news. I vividly remember Lollapalooza 2012 - they had to evacuate because of crazy weather. Nobody knew if it was cancelled for the rest of the day or not. When we got the notice they were letting people back in, the first act on was Skream & Benga - who smashed the place up. People were so happy they were playing in the mud like it was water. Then Bloc Party came on and just proved why they are one of the best bands in the world. Just when you though it couldn't get any better, Avicii came out in this crazy, massive head on stage and took the night to another 'level'. It was awesome.

The electronic music movement in the mid to late 90's was so much better than this new stuff. I just don't hear any band that is even remotely as good as say a band like Underworld. "Second Toughest In The Infants" is a masterpiece.

I loved 90s electronic music but I also love current electronic music more than ever. If you loved Underworld, start with these current artists if you get a chance: Daniel Avery, Jon Hopkins, Clark, and/or Helena Hauff.
Some of that stuff reminded me of Boards Of Canada, much more minimalist stuff.
I think the electronic based stuff I like nowadays is more like song oriented like Bishop Briggs, SHAED and London Grammar.

When I think Underworld, I think 'dark' and electronic. That's why I put them in the same basket with those artists. I haven't spent any time with SHAED and I'm definitely not on the Bishop Briggs train yet - that feels so forced to me. I do LOVE me some London Grammer though - a lot! And lately I've been loving YEBBA, Rainbow Kitten Surprise and Pale Waves. So good.

I like RKS the best of those. Thanks for the recommendations.
Some other stuff I'm liking: Thunder Jackson - "Guilty Party" & "Colours", Two Feet - "Feel Like I'm Drowning" & Sir Sly - "&Run"

Watch the doc on Tim, the writing was on the wall, this poor guy had to much coming his way when he was just asking for all of it to stop. Feel bad for him....
