Final 2018 Basketball COMPOSITE Rankings
As noted by a couple of users in the 247 rankings thread, the composite was updated this afternoon now that Rivals, ESPN, and 247 have all released their final 2018 rankings. There are a couple of small changes from earlier today (and one large drop for Nunez):
Ignas Brazdeikis: 36th / 4-star
Brandon Johns: 65th / 4-star
David DeJulius: 98th / 4-star
Colin Castleton: 117th / 4-star
Adrien Nunez: 291st(!) / 3-star
Not sure what happened with the Nunez composite ranking - earlier today he was at 216. Regarless, we end up with 1 Top 50 recruit and 3 total in the Top 100. Four 4-star recruits and one 3-star recruit.
For those interested, Taylor Currie ended up at as a 3-star at 191. Also, Indiana still has a chance to bring the Big 10 it's lone Top 10 recruit if they can sign Romeo Langford (6th in the composite). He would join Jalen Smith (14th in the composite / signed with Maryland) as the lone 5-star recruits in the B1G for 2018.

Beilein has been to two Final Fours in his 11 years at UM, one every 5.5 years.
This "class" could still be playing - or at least any one player from this class could still be playing - in 5 years from now.
Way to go out on a limb, Qmatic. ;-)

tough schedule this coming year so record might not be stellar but would be an underacheivement to not compete for the conference title the next two years given all the returning veteran talent. The next two years is when the large and talented 2016 and 2017 classes should shine.

I think next year's team is going to be good, but the following year could be amazing if everybody stays
Teske and Simpson as seniors, Matthews as a RS Senior (probably unlikely to stay if he improves a lot next year?)
Juniors Poole, Livers and Eli Brooks
Sophs or RS Freshman for this entire incoming class

That puts the class at #8 nationally in the composite, just behind #7 Maryland for #2 in the Big Ten. Very nice. MSU is #14 nationally, and then Indiana, Illinois, OSU, and Northwestern are #21-24.

looks like they did something to get Iggy more in line with his ratings (despite not being officially ranked by two services).
The day he outed himself was one of the best days on the blog - I miss those times on occasion. Of course, it was also one of the more poignant days on the blog, as you knew that was going to be the last RDT post for....well.....forever.
As for the topic at hand, I am pretty excited about this class and the near future of Michigan basketball.

I haven't been following his recruitment at all and have no inside info. I just mentioned it because his decision date is approaching soon, Indiana is controlling his Crystal Ball, and many of those predictions have come in recently (i.e. Indiana has Crystal Ball momentum, for whatever that's worth).
You sure about that?
And I think most of us have a feeling that probably four or five of these guys are still being underrated.

Next year will be tough to adjust without Moe and I think we'll see that a bit in the beginning of the season. But as we've seen, Beilein's teams begin to peak when the second half of the season rolls around. Matthews, Livers, Poole, Teske and Simpson should all be hitting their stride (if they haven't already) by that point, and the freshmen will have plenty of minutes under their collective belt.
I think when everything is all said and done, next year's team could be even better than this year's. Doesn't mean they make it back to the Final Four, but I think they will ultimately get better because there is more offensive firepower coming their way.

I knew I kept this avatar for something.
For the record, Michigan is the only school to have a top 10 recruiting class in both basketball and football (actually top 8 in both).

#21 in football, no?
Not the same classes and the '19 football class is just getting started. #21 in the same class.
