Resign as in voluntarily quit, not re-sign.

I may have just phrased it poorly, but that's what I'm hoping for as well. It seems there was an offer in place for Drevno to stay on the staff, just in a demoted role, and he then decided to leave. It also seems Jim had an idea of what Drevno's decision would be - hiring Ed Warinner away as an analyst only just seemed odd.

I heard Harbaugh put a big T sign in Drevno's front yard that indicating to him "T, Time to Leave!"

He also said roles weren't defined. I bet Drevno officially got told he was no longer the OC and was just going to be the OL coach and left rather than take the demotion.

That was the understanding a couple weeks ago but the situation must have become fluid. Plus, Sam Webb has dropped some hints that something is amiss.

He used to be for Rivals and Landof10. I know some people here don't like his writing style but I personally don't mind.

But doubtful. I feel like he's a friend of Don Brown based on when he popped up but who knows. Maybe it's Jack Harbaugh

brandon justice seems like a nice kid, but let's not kid ourselves: he doesn't break news. he searches on premium boards and then reports it as his own. he's actually broken maybe one story, which was a committment from a recruit he developed a relationship with. this "breaking news" is just him repackaging what sam webb wrote.

This may be best McElwain gif I've seen... unless he's upset that 21 took his shark.

In all of my football days I had the best season and winning record with a coach who did this regularly. The highlight of that season was clapping in pregame warm up formation for over 30 minutes, because it just didn't sound good enough for coach. Do you know how bad your hands hurt after that? The result was a win in dominate fashion against a team we had no business beating. When you are seeking the best results out of young adults, and getting in their shit is one of the best ways to do it. College athletes need it more to keep them grounded, and there is no gif showing what McElwain said or did to be a postive reinforcement to this player later on. You build them up and tear them down over and over. Since when did football become about hurting a players feelings? Play stupid games win stupid prizes, and this player was the winner. Personally, I like a coach not afraid to lose it on a player that makes a mistake. /Inc all the arm chair psycologists citing internet studies about feel good vibes produce better blah, blah, blah...

I had a HS basketball coach who was known as the Bobby Knight of our area (New Jersey). We had 3hr practices, 20 page scouting reports, and a constant barrge of verbal attacks. We basically played with 4 guards and a 6'2" center. We won the league every year...made county semis and would win one or two in state tournament. He demanded excellence and he was a great coach -especially on D. Was a motherfucker though, but I learned so much. But if we had a shitty practice, he would end the schedule earlier and put 60mins up on the clock...60 mins to do 60 suicides...30 second suicide followed by 30 secs of rest. Well by the 15th one you were done and basically just ran back and forth for an hour. I ended up at another school at the end, not because of hopps, but next school I laughed so hard at the first practice when it was over in 60 - 70 mins and then got a weird look when I asked where the scouting report was...senior year he let me call plays on the court and I would draw plays up on the sideline because he knew that I knew more about the game. College coach was like second HS coach...third game of the year at half he says we are going to play a 1-3-1. We never ONCE practiced it and I asked him in the locker room what kind of 1-3-1 are we playing...extended? trap at half court..trap at corners..passive to force jumpers, all out trapping? Suffice to say I didnt play the next 3 games.

This coach I speak of was hated by every player on my team for almost the entire year. To this day every person I speak with has nothing but great things to say about that coach. He was a JV coach and we missed him dearly our junior and senior seasons. He took a bunch of severly undersized and low talent players and made them 6-2 for a season. Two years later his team went undefeated and never had a point scored against them. Never once did he get physical with anyone, but you knew if fucked up your goose was cooked. If I ever run into him at a bar his first drink is on me, and there is a long ass list of people out there that would do the same.

I learned a lot from this guy, but he was also a mean spiritied person. Our 6'2" center was not really an athlete...smart as shit though..went to Duke and has a great career in science related field. However, he didnt have good hands. IN order to improve his hands, the coach would line him up facing the gym wall. He would yell turn and throw the ball at him to catch it. After a few easy ones, he then throws it as hard as he can and purposely tells him to turn just as the ball is reaching the kid (wearing goggles)..ball drills him in the face. I felt so bad for the kid, and as one of the captains told the coach after practice that if he ever did that again I would quit. This coach also smashed a clipboard on my knee during a timeout.
Again, learned a ton from him..not just about basketball, but life...however, he crossed lines more than a few times.

BJ was the first to break Shea and McElwain. just stop. if youdon't like the guy it's fine, but he's been dropping info first on some of the top shelf info.
He was also the first to say Drevno would be stripped of play calling duties in the same article with McElwain.

The guy is a good OL position coach who was a mediocre-to-poor OC, it happens.
He is not some terrible person.

There are a bunch of good guys on this board. There are also a bunch of people that treat their fandom the way a nasty autocrat treats his flunkies. Get put in a shitty situation and fail and get crucified.
Drev was the O coordinator for 3 years. 2 of those years we had a decent to good offense. Then Fisch goes and Pep comes in and Drevno's a moron.
February 23rd, 2018 at 11:56 AM ^
Had nothing to do with youth all over the offense and playing 3 QBs all of which were crappy. No lets blame the coach instead.
