Highjacking to embed for the board:
Contrary to prior reports, Greg Schiano tells me he is staying at #OhioState. Under Schiano, the Buckeyes led the nation in TFLs, ranked No. 3 in sacks and ranked No. 5 in defense: https://t.co/IgQWkLVyL2

The Sandusky enabler stays. LOL sucks for them. Schiano's a stain that ohio just can't wash off.

You are an ohio guy. Schiano came out under oath by McCreary. So yes he did enable.

And secondly, happy bc OSUs defense isn’t the issue.
Somehow between I’m the old ass bitch or child even tho you’re the grown ass man throwing a tantrum on a message board over a popular opinion of Drevno sucking?

Wouldn't be surprised at all if he's lying to keep recruits in Columbus. If he leaves next week, would any of us really be surprised?
February 7th, 2018 at 11:16 AM ^
Well, shit! What happens next, the Two-Hearted Ale brewery blows up?
February 7th, 2018 at 11:17 AM ^
I think Schiano is overrated personally, so I'm fine with him staying at OSU. I felt we had great gameplans against them since he's been there and we've just botched execution.
February 7th, 2018 at 6:55 PM ^
Okay if that's what floats your boat then go with it.

OSU's defense did not impress me last year - they won because of their offense (and mostly weaker competition). Iowa, of all teams, was able to put 55 on them. If we had a semi-capable offense last year, we win that game. If anything, he is just a recruiter for them.
Also, I would still not be surprised if he leaves in the near future - after signing day, of course.

Ohio State's 247 team recruiting class ranking is No. 2.
Among 25 recruits:
Three 3-stars
Nineteen 4-stars
Three 5-stars
Has Michigan EVER had a class that dominant?
They don't need Schiano. Your local barista at the corner Starbuck's can just as easily coach Ohio State to 12-1 or 13-0 and the national title games.
February 7th, 2018 at 12:08 PM ^
I wonder if the barista could beat an average Iowa team?
February 7th, 2018 at 12:14 PM ^
because they beat good teams. not like us that beat teams to get our wins. like the beginning of the season. need to win big ones then we can get more stars. we had good classes but not in the top group.
February 7th, 2018 at 12:04 PM ^
February 7th, 2018 at 12:22 PM ^
Oh well. Embrace the reality of it and find a way to beat him.
Iowa found a way to humilate Meyer by almost 5 TDs. There is no excuse for us to not be able to find a way to beat him by even one point.
February 7th, 2018 at 12:13 PM ^
Will probably leave right after they receive all of their NLI's.
February 7th, 2018 at 12:21 PM ^
Schiano's career seems to have flat-lined at college DC. That's amazing, considering how high his stock was at one point.
February 7th, 2018 at 12:22 PM ^
I wouldn't bet money on that being the case going forward. OSU coaches have said they'd be sticking around until NSD before.

February 7th, 2018 at 1:00 PM ^
He's trash. To paraphrase Tommy Lasorda, when a team hires a piece of shit 50+ to Iowa dipshit, I'll get the c---sucker a limo to make sure he's there at the game calling plays.
February 7th, 2018 at 6:52 PM ^
And the UM coaching staff is.........?
February 7th, 2018 at 1:22 PM ^
His defense was torched by Iowa and we were in a position to win with O’Korn.
February 7th, 2018 at 3:03 PM ^
February 7th, 2018 at 4:58 PM ^
Earlier someone referred to him as "just a recruiter." Since he was the lead recruiter for both NPF and Tyler Friday, maybe we need some of those "just a recruiter" types.

February 7th, 2018 at 5:30 PM ^
He's a decent DC, but not a great one. I am glad he's staying. BTW, I heard on another site that he was never offered the job. Fake opportunity to create fake publicity for OSU.
February 7th, 2018 at 7:45 PM ^
From the sounds of it, Greg Schiano's contract expired back in January 31st, and AD Gene Smith convinced him to stay with a significant pay raise... Smith hinted that Ohio State is about to have their first asst. coach that make $1+ million/year.
February 7th, 2018 at 7:49 PM ^
There's also some rampant rumors that Belichick is considering retirement within the near future, and Josh McDaniels stayed because Kraft has promised him the job.
Plus, from a money standpoint, Schiano will probably be getting a hefty settlement from Tenneesee soon.
