Another hard fought battle from Drevno. lol

given that NPF seems like a very bright kid with more than just football value on his mind. Maybe he just does not want to face that much competition in the classroom, because Michigan can certainly develop 1st round NFL talent and will continue to, particularly if the player has the smarts and discipline, and wants to be great. Regardless, OSU is not a special place to go to school and any player considering it as the choice is: 1) heavily enamored by the salesmanship that is Meyer, 2) likes being the focus of the entire student body, 3) not terribly interested in what happens when football is over.

Just sad how pathetic some of our own fans are
February 6th, 2018 at 4:41 PM ^
with all the losing on the field, they should be used to it by now.
February 6th, 2018 at 6:04 PM ^
You've been outed as an OSU troll based on your very obvious posting history.
As a result I find it humorous to know you admit many OSU fans are pathetic.

Considering we were running like 3rd-5th anyway, and he's the top tackle in the class, i doubt that was their intentions.

totally horseshit. OSU isn't bad, but Michigan is in another league academically vs OSU. Like any recruit before, "high academic kid" means I'll pick whichever team gets me to win more and get me to NFL as high pic.
That being said, OSU is embarrasing and toying with Michigan now. Not sure how they can come in late and scoop up Friday AND NPF. What the hell. Some serious negative vibes around M for this to happen. Very sad.

Da'Shawn Hand wanted to go to a top academic institution as well. Signed with Bama.

that they are killing it recruiting, but they aint embarrassing us on the field...at all (minus the Durkin bye bye year)
2-3 Harbaugh years we have outplayed them and could easily be 3-1 agaisnt them with Jim at the helm.
Yes it blows losing 5 stars to them, but I aint seeing a big gap on the field when we play those morans
February 6th, 2018 at 5:19 PM ^
Agreed with you on Michihgan out playing OSU the last two years. However, when push came to shove, OSU had the players to finish the game, we did not. So if killing it on the recruiting trail propels us in beating OSU then we better starting getting the coaching personel out there to get those guys.
So far Drevno is crashing and buring on the recruiting trail and development. He is easily our weakest link on the staff and Harbaugh is going to have to make a big decision this year. If Drevno fails to develop a good OLine this year and is unable to bring in the elite talent for the future, how can Harbaugh really say he's an asset.
Friendship cannot get in the way of Michigan.

My school dominated the Big Ten for years, but dropped out for strong academics. University of Chicago. I missed some games, but not pay checks.

I honestly can't think of a person on our staff that has recruted worse. Hell, pep hamilton is actually recruting decently well right now. I don't know what the hell is going on in schembechler hall but Drevno from all reports and the eye test is becoming THE problem for this program. He has missed on almost every single OT target that we have needed in the last two years.
February 6th, 2018 at 2:35 PM ^
Drevno brings nothing to the table. The biggest waste of $1m/year that I have ever seen. The guy does know how to pick his friends though. If he wouldn't have gotten close to Harbaugh he would be coaching HS football right now.
February 6th, 2018 at 5:01 PM ^
That's the true measure for how good a coach is . . . who outside your team desperately wants him?
If Brown was in the market, he'd be snapped up in a second.
Drevno would be snapped up . . . only by a high school team.

Anyone know what umbig11 was referencing a week ago or so when he mentioned Michigan was looking at an SEC lineman possibility?
I give it 0% chance we get the kid from Rice.
February 6th, 2018 at 6:09 PM ^
He gave several hints, but at this point I think Michigan is being pretty mum about who they have coming, probably for good reason.
Lot of melt down on this thread for something that hasn't even happened yet.

And they will come. I know we've been saying this for a while now but NEXT YEAR HIS HUGE!! I'm always hopeful for this team and we have a LOT of talent next year. It will be very difficult to endure another 8-4 season...
GO BLUE!!

How many more OL have to choose other schools before people realize Tim Drevno is a dog shit recruiter. Thank god Mattison landed Bredeson, Wheatley landed Onwenu, Partridge landed Ruiz, and Frey landed Mayfield and Hayes.
He's an awful coach and an awful recruiter. What's it going to be, 16 of 18 after next year? I can't believe this is year 3 of Harbaugh and this is the results we are getting. I'm almost past the point of anger into indifference. Michigan football stinks and M is for mediocre.

February 6th, 2018 at 6:17 PM ^
Per NFP's coach, he is going to let the coaches know his decision earlier tomorrow morning, so as not to leave them hanging.
Look for a lot of potentially changing crystal balls early tomorrow morning based on leaks, if it isn't actually the bucks.

Drevno and Harbaugh have been playing a lot of wiffle ball on OL recruits and that's just heartbreaking and frustrating.
February 6th, 2018 at 3:32 PM ^
who had us in the top three. Were there even people who thought we had a chance???
February 6th, 2018 at 5:35 PM ^
It still may have been the case, but I also Crystal Balled NPF to Ohio State this morning based off what that same source told me.
February 6th, 2018 at 3:45 PM ^
Winning a championship once in a while is the missing recruiting tool. Academics, a track record of sending players to the NFL, coaches that had success in the NFL, all those things matter to these kids, I'm sure. But being able to show off some hardware, Conference Championships, National Championships, that's something we can't compete with, well that and the climate down south.
February 6th, 2018 at 3:52 PM ^
For those of us who don't consistently use acronyms for people's names (I still don't understand why that's such a thing on this site), who is NPF?
February 6th, 2018 at 4:04 PM ^
Nicholas Petit-Frere, the #1 OT in the nation.
February 6th, 2018 at 3:56 PM ^
we start beating who we need to beat and produce solid lineman...Im not surprised at all.
But of coruse OSU is getting dirty to land these guys, they come out of nowhere all the time. Imagine the skeletons down in columbus
