I feel bad I upvoted that. But I don't.
It's too truthful to ignore.

...until UM gets the #1 OT in the country, Vlad, then I hope UM never gets the #1 OT in the country.

does this make him count against 2019 scholarships?
I thought grey-shirting was banned in the last round of NCAA legislation?
February 4th, 2018 at 8:38 PM ^
How could grayshirting ever be banned? It's just recruits deferring their enrollment. He's not signing an LOI.
Few grayshirts actually pay their own way and enroll in the fall He can go to community college for one semester, enroll in the winter and keep all of his eligibility.
February 4th, 2018 at 8:45 PM ^
6. Greyshirts / Blueshirts are done after you hit 25 scholarships - the limitation of annual scholarships to 25. This is a move to do away with oversigning and to reduce the practice of grayshirting, a tactic by which schools delay the enrollment of a prospect until the following January so his signing would technically count as part of the next class. The legislation limits to 25 the number of prospects whose aid is initially offered in the fall term of an academic year. Before, rules limited to 25 the number of prospects allowed to sign from Dec. 1 through May 31. This portion of the changes will affect newcomers in the 2018 signing class.

we can backdate 2 to 2017 so we are at 18 technically for 2018

commits to take a grayshirt after they committed for the current class. Basically a bait and switch tactic.
Moody was never offered for the 2018 class. That's a big difference. Even though he's a verbal commit. He could still go anywhere untill he enrolls.
We're probably asking him to grayshirt in order to space him out further from Nordin. Obviously we're not running into the 25 limit, but we would like to leave room for transfers.

"Greyshirts / Blueshirts are done after you hit 25"
I thought Greyshirts / Blueshirts were done after 1865 /s

The kid kicked off from the 20 one time after a safety and put it through the end zone. Hell of a leg. In addition he had FGs of 58, 55 and 50 his Senior year at Northville.

He doesn't appear in the list of 30 kickers on the 247 composite list. Brad Robbins was #16 on the composite last year but Kornblue had him as the best punter. I'm sure that Kornblue is right this time, but I'm just saying . . . .
Welcome, Jake.

Good question. Hopefully this exchange will inspire one of our Mgoblog researchers to compare the predictions made in the past. There is risk in assuming that the people who run camps, and therefore have expertise and are focused on kicking, will give a better answer. They may be biased towards kids who attended their camp. Also there may be honest differences of opinion between people who run different camps. Kornblue isn't the only guy running a camp.

his camps. It would be hard for him to do it another way.

Well he had Brad Robbins as the #1 punter, and well.... you saw how that worked out this year.

Will Michigan be taking a scholarship kicker every year (Nordin '16, Robbins '17, Moody roughly '18)? Seems a bit much .....
February 4th, 2018 at 8:55 PM ^
3 years after Nordin - seems about right
February 5th, 2018 at 8:15 AM ^
Robbins is a punter. Moody will be 2019 (he is a grayshirt).
February 5th, 2018 at 12:00 PM ^
As I said in an earlier post, I think Mr. Nordin is on thin ice here. Now Harbaugh has another kicker to turn to when Quinn thinks it's a good idea to scream at his coach on the sidelines or grab his crotch at mid-field. Two things that were not a good look at all during this past season.

Jay Feely's kid is a ninth-grader who was booming 50-yarders this year, so now we're covered for the next decade or so.
