Talking Deflategate to kids
1. Tom Brady went to Michigan and Michigan players don’ cheat.
2. Brady will have played in 8 Super Bowls and will have won 6, more than any other player.
3. Temperature was the likely cause http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/ot-deflategate-thought-experiment-could-bal…
4. Their little friend Dylan is a douche bag and should shut the hell up.
What do tell your children about Tom Brady?

Joking aside, this is a great topic and question. I'd tell my son that while we all purport to strive for integrity, some don't really mean it. Some seemingly successful people will cheat, lie, do basically everything.
/Checks own user name, continues analysis./
To sum up, some people are intolerable fuckwads and it doesn't matter if they are or aren't successful, or if they do or don't go to your school, or shine on their teams. They are a literal waste of oxygen, water, food, and other resources. These people have negative value, and it's likely that even their own parents recognize that these people have no value. Old people and dogs can sense these tendencies, and will not be comfortable around these ignorant misguided assholes.
In short, some people are like Dylan.

will become a Sparty someday, mark my words.
Tell him he can look forward to a life of mediocrity and inferiority.

Just condsider that Dylan didn't come up with that on his own. He's parroting something he heard from his elders. You have no way of knowing what else they have told him. At best they are probably Spartys or Buckeyes.
Yes, yes I did turn this into a posbang. Not sorry.

Not going to neg an honest opinion, but did you even read any of the posts or go to the links i.e. the guy who allegedly started the whole thing and caught an underinflated ball saying he didn't notice anything and nobody interviewed him or asked him about it, or the MIT professor's 15 minute powerpoint and full experiment showing why it was science rather than anything else?

Is the biggest cry baby. Has cried to the NFL time after time because he couldn't beat the Pats. Booooo hooooo the CB's are playing too close, change the defensive rule so Payton can get the ball out....booooooo hooooooooo the ball lost a hairs worth of air because it was cold but clearly that's the reason why they lost so bad.
ESPN showed on their science portion of SC that it was just cold air but they stopped running it once they realized how big of a story it was blowing up into and wanted to keep ratings up. I think it's the single handed stupidest sports story of at least the past 10 years.
Brady has done more with less than any other player in the history of game. It's insane how hes done it. He had one really elite reciever for like two years his whole career and he broke records with him. If Brady had the cast that Payton had all those years Brady would be looking at WINNING his 8th today at minimum.

One of the things I began to realize back in grade school was that most of the people who were cocksure on debatable topics were not very bright. In the leadup to Super Bowl VI in 1972, there was a "Dylan" in my class (I don't remember the kid's name). He would go on and on about how Miami was such a better team than Dallas and would win handily. He sounded like he knew what he was talking about (probably just parroting his dad, like Dylan most likely is). I was sucked in. He was so certain and seemed knowledgeable.
And I watched the Super Bowl, expecting Miami to dominate.
Dallas won 24-3.
There are a lot of Dylans out there in the world. They're not always wrong, but they really don't have the mental capacity to entertain alternate theories or contend with facts that don't support their conclusions.

My 11 year old daughter said the same thing to me as your 7 year old son. For the same reason . . . kid at school said something.
I told her they suspended Tom Brady, based on the theory he deflated balls and it helped him win games.
When he came back from suspension and they made sure there were no deflated balls . . . all he did was win the Super Bowl.
So clearly there was nothing to the charge about deflated balls. If deflated balls were being used to enable him to win games, how did he win the freaking Super Bowl without them?
Maybe it was much ado about nothing.

With that logic, if Barry Bonds could hit a HR without steroids, that proves he didn't take steriods.
The blinders many on this blog are wearing are somewhat disturbing. Our players and coaches, present and current, are humans with warts and flaws like the rest of us and like the rest of society.
The "we can do no wrong" mentality is what leads to cover ups and scandals. Let's try and be better than that.

but a lot of negative behavior, both serious and not-so-serious, can be promoted by the cultish "our guys can do no wrong" mentality.

Saying that Michigan people never cheat or do bad things is how you wind up with a brainwashed lunatic fan base like PSU. Acknowledge faults and flaws and that we aren’t perfect just because we went to Michigan.

The NFL made a big mistake suspending brady and legitimizing the whole deflategate thing. it was an incompetant investigation by an arrogant leader the owners should have fired long ago. The NFL doesn't understand how to market its stars.
Like him or not, a player going for his 6th super bowl shouldn't have been vilified for something that didn't impact the outcome of a game and probably didn't happen. You should have a bit more respect for the stars in your league, whether they be brady or manning or whoever, because they're the ones doing the feats that you'd like to celebrate as a league. Instead, the league makes their stars as unpopular as they can.
The NBA celebrates LeBron or Steph Curry. MLB celebrates Trout or Harper. The NHL celebrates Crosby or McDavid. They don't try to take them down. You might not be a fan of those players, but you can respect them as great players who achieve amazing things and the league can promote those things as part of their brand. Can you imagine the NBA suspending LeBron for 25% of the season for something so minor as deflate gate? Now there's a rift and Brady and the Pats play to spite the NFL commissioner. What a shame.

Nearly nine months after the incident, the Boston Herald reported, citing an unnamed source, that the Patriots had also videotaped the St. Louis Rams' walkthrough practice prior to Super Bowl XXXVI in February 2002, an allegation denied by Belichick and later retracted by the Herald.
Meanwhile, Matt Walsh, a Patriots video assistant in 2001 who was fired after the team's 2002 season, told the media the same week that he had information and materials regarding the Patriots' videotaping practices, but demanded an indemnity agreement before speaking with the NFL. The NFL reached a deal with Walsh on April 23, 2008, and arranged a meeting between Goodell and Walsh. Prior to the meeting, Walsh sent eight videotapes, containing opponents' coaches' signals from the 2000 through 2002 seasons, in accordance with the agreement.
Goodell and Walsh met on May 13, 2008, at which time Walsh told Goodell he and other Patriots employees were present at the Rams' walkthrough to set up video equipment for the game but that there was no tape of the walkthrough made; as a result, Goodell told the media no additional penalties would be brought against the Patriots. Less than 24 hours later, the Herald issued an apology for the article about the alleged walkthrough tape.

MY daughter was giving me crap this morning about Brady being a friend of the President. This is a thing that my cousins, Philly dwellers have been talking up apparently. I told her to google Trump Clinton wedding and leave me alone. I am hanging onto my Bradyphilia through thick and thin here.

The comments regarding Brady's children following the documentary about him this week explains why he destroyed his phone. I wouldn't trust the NFL when it comes to releasing leaks to the tabloids. It was good judgment on Brady's part. Giselle is big tabloid news.

Had the same conversation with my 10 year old who has decided to root against Tom Brady because of some kid at school and to be contrarian with the rest of the house. My wife tweaks her by randomly shouting, "Greatest of All Time".
Anyway, my response was, "Either the guy carrying a bag with a bunch of balls to the field stopped in the bathroom for less than 1 minute to use the bathroom or he stopped to amazingly deflate 10+ footballs to exactly the right pressure. You decide which answer seems more logical."
