Bad Boys were the best in so many ways. Detroit Basketball!

One thing I loved about the 1989 team was that the only player who made all-NBA was Joe Dumars and that was third team all-NBA (http://www.nba.com/history/awards/all-nba-team#/)
They played like a team in an era when Jordan was making the individual the focus. And the Bad Boys focused on defense.
Here is an old article on Daly from Sports Illustrated. He was just a great coach:
Daly has never been a my-way-or-the-highway coach. Neither is he a "system" coach. He came to Detroit with a penchant for offense, yet he won the championship with defense after hiring assistants with defensive expertise, such as Rothstein and Dick Harter.

I just turned 9 years old in October of 1968.
I remember the night they clinched the series. Cars driving up and down 7 mile road near where I lived, honking their horns. It was a terrific thing.

I "vote" for 1968. A lot of people don't remember that the Tigers almost won in 1967, too, losing to the mighty Yankees on the last day of the season to lose the pennant.

Dude, if you want to go way back there - and the '68 Tigers Championshsip was one of the most important sports events/memories of my life (along with osu upset in '69) - then you gotta put the Big Lefty in there!
3 Ws in a 7-gm series, including beating the indomitable Bob Gibson!
Cumong!!!

Never paid as much attention to pro sports, but the mid-late 90s Red Wings get my vote for sure.

Wow for football. I spent most of my time at Michigan during those 10 years. Is that why I'm so sad now? I'm joking, but kind of expected that's how M's supposed to be.

I was in DC in 2006 in a hotel watching Michigan murder a few Penn State QBs in a big game on the road to stay undefeated, then flipped channels to see Mags hit the walk-off home run against Oakland to win the series. 2006 was a good year.

84 Tigers, "Bless you, boys."
Started out 35-5 and won the World Series on my 16th birthday.

Tigers are the only Detroit team I follow, so I will say their recent run of success that ended a few years ago. Had a lot of fun watching the boys make a few series runs, caught a lot of games with my Dad, friends, lady, etc. Football is the greatest, but I understand Baseball being "America's pastime", things just feel better and brighter when the Tigers are good.

I will go with FauxMo above there, and anyone who knows me knows it would take a lot for me to go along with anyone who had a clown avatar given how much I dislike clowns - mid to late 1980s Tigers and Pistons were some fun times indeed. Close second might be late 1990s Red Wings.
