I don't know that it is clear that the ref was trying to help him up. My first thought before the ESPN crew started with their self righteousness, was that the ref was putting his hand down to protect himself from the players rolling on the ground.

His right hand was palm up and fully extended.

Love how you and the ESPN crews got in the mind of the ref and were on the field to hear, or not hear any verbal exchange that might have taken place.

"bogus ejection" is putting it mildly. The RB gets gang tackled after the whistle including some NW player barreling in to knock the whole pile over WAY after the whistle. And then the ref bends over the Kentucky guy, holds out his hands to help him up, and the Kentucky guy basically does "nah, i'm good" with his hands to the ref.
There was no aggressive contact, and what little contact there was the REF INITIATED IT!!
I'm not pulling for SEC teams but Kentucky got effed big time by that call, if there's any fairness, they'll call every questionable call in Kentucky's favor the rest of the game.

I had thought this crew was doing a decent job. That was very bad.

I noticed that too, getting a little weird out there.

Ref grabbed Snells chest pad with left hand and holds out right hand to help up Snell. Snell had just gotten tackled by like 6 guys, 4 of them well after the whistle. Snell grabs the refs wrists and pushes him away. Ref ejects him for this.
This all happened so fast that it seems like Snell probably didn't realize it was a ref.
But why the fuck is a ref grabbing a player on the ground? He wasn't hurt or anything like that, wtf? Refs can just grab whoever they want on the field?

why the fuck did i get negged for this?

He thanked the fans for "showing up in the rain, in the snow and in the desert...er at the beach."
Judging by the attendance and ratings of that game doesn't sound like the fans knew which bowl they were in either.

the horseshoes in his arse.
And the lack of first string offense for his opponent.

Is there something I'm missing as to why Todd Graham is coaching Arizona State in this game? He was fired, correct? Announced retirement or acceptance of a different job, ok. Fired? weird.

after the ejection and that questionable uncalled roughing on the UK QB, I'm asking the refs how much they bet on the game.
If the defender let's go, okay no call. Riding him to the ground? Coulda/shoulda been called.

The reffing in this game is absolutely out of control.

Kentucky is extremely dirty. Of course the average IQ difference is about 40 from Northwestern.

I mean, holy shit, is Frank "Enrico Palazzo" Drebin on the crew for the Northwestern-Kentucky game? Could they not find the crew and they just grabbed a few guys from the stands? What the actual hell is going on here?

The game of football is turning into a complete shitshow. At some point, and it is getting closer, I'll find something else to watch if reffing continues to erode.
Ejecting a kid when he doesn't want to be helped up? Targetting?

when nobody makes the playoff and everyone gets to play their natural bowl opponent rather than playing up a team or two.
December 29th, 2017 at 7:22 PM ^
I was thinking that too, but in the new set up it doesn't really seem to be the case-- at least this year. OSU and Bama pretty much just would have swapped spots in the NY6, I think. I don't think any B1G team outside of OSU, PSU, or UW would have made the NY6 in either scenario. We also theoretically hopped MSU and NW in the B1G heirarchy. This gave them easier matchups while we drew a "higher" bowl opponent from a really bad SEC east.
MSU/NW/UM were always going to get favorable matchups due to the level of talent drop off and lack of depth in the SEC and PAC this year.
The one difference if OSU made the playoffs is that a B1G team would be playing in the Citrus bowl instead of the Orange.
