The MSU game is the most important game on the schedule next year. Just win that game above anything else. The Buckeye rivalry is cyclical. We go back and forth with them (the Ten Years War), we beat them for regularly for a while (the Cooper years), and now they have clobbered us for a (long) stretch. We'll be back against them, for sure. But MSU? That is unnatural. They never beat us on any regular or any other basis, just the once in a while thing. Give them credit, they've taken full advantage of our down period. But enough is enough.
On such an important, gamechanging play you don't give it to them on a "maybe." A firstdown, in that instance, should be clearly earned. If the tables were turned, although I would have been happy, I wouldn't have felt great about being given the gift of a game winning call.
Only EMU and Stanford have won six National Championships in one year. The football team was awesome in '87 with Jim Harkema and topped a MAC championship with a win over San Jose State in the California Raison bowl.
Go Hurons!
I was there. We lost, but because Arizona State's coach John Cooper beat us Ohio State hired him and the resulting 2-10-1 against Michigan resulted. Best Bowl loss Michigan ever had!
