OT: Happy Winter Solstice!
Today, we here in Ann Arbor will only get about 9 hours and 5 minutes of sunlight, least of the year. But look on the bright side - nothing but longer todays between now and June 21, 2018!
Is anyone further north than Ann Arbor? Anyone in, like, northern Sweden or Alaska, where you already haven't had sun at all for a few days and won't again until the New Year? If so, we are all here for you. Please don't fall into a deep depression and do anything rash...

Are you suggesting Climate Change is being caused by a cessation of the Earth's tilt?!?!?! Because the days sure as hell are looking shorter to me.... :-D

Same in the Scandinavian countries; all night drinking to keep away the blues and keep those outrageous suicide rates to a minimum...

Some Scandinavians handle it just fine:

I'd swear that S.A.D. is less common in the U.S. for people of Northern European descent. Just an observation .....

I tried that. It doesn't work.
Lasts for years. Blues get temporarily better, but return with vigor.
Better just to move south.

what do you think?
in the UP we just call that 'winter' and everybody wants a white Christmas. we'll have one this year, and that is a good thing. wish it would snow more. probably get some tonight.

XM--- I thought you studied at UM --it's masonry, the trade using brick and mortar and stone. Masonary is some Traverse City abomination that some preacher mixes up with the missionary life or position. I kid only since I've met you twice and your sons. Happy Holidays and seek me out next year at a game.

It's weird how so many religious holidays coincide with the solstice and equinox. /s
