OT: last day of Mike & Mike

I always liked their Sheet of Integrity March Madness contest.

I will miss never listening to or watching them.

I don't follow them that much. Why are they ending the show? What do they have better to do?
November 17th, 2017 at 1:09 PM ^
which will include Michelle Beadle and Jalen Rose (go blue!); Golic will be paired with Trey Wingo on radio going forward
November 17th, 2017 at 9:10 AM ^
It was fresh when it first hit the scene, but frankly, IMO, it has been very stale for quite a while now.
If I never heard or saw Golic again, I'd be just fine.
November 17th, 2017 at 9:15 AM ^
Did you know he played football at Notre Dame!?!
November 17th, 2017 at 9:22 AM ^
Lol. Yes, I believe that was mentioned on the show once or twice.
November 17th, 2017 at 10:16 AM ^
And Greeny is such a a nerd! haha so funny

HOW CAN WE FIX BASEBALL FOR THE 862ND TIME GUYS?!?

Not familiar with where Golic went to college or his kids.
November 17th, 2017 at 9:30 AM ^
It is crazy to me that he got so upset about Greeny getting the promotion to television without him. Like there aren't hundreds of former players just like Golic who could do and say the same things.

Your car got only one radio stations? Sometimes silence is golden.
November 17th, 2017 at 9:13 AM ^
Didn't know it was still on...
November 17th, 2017 at 9:13 AM ^
Good one of the most painful shows to watch/ listen.
November 17th, 2017 at 9:14 AM ^
I have mixed feelings about them ending the show. Being an early morning commuter in the 2000s at my first job out of school it was nice to have good sports radio to go to and the guys filled that roll. Either it's me growing up or ESPN changing but it's gotten too "bro-ish" and I can no longer listen for more than a few minutes.

was John Renshaw about 20+ years ago. But he was more regional and that was because he talked about the important sports topics like gambling, hookers, booze and drugs.

On a national level probably not. I did enjoy Dan Patricks show one summer though.
Regional sports radio is where you really get the stuff you care about.
Boston has WEEI and The Sports Hub. They are addicting with the edge to Sports Hub.
Morning shows are a tie for me but WEEI has really really improved here. T&R from sports hub just won the marconi award which shows the level these guys are at.
Afternoon is a toss up and the weakest shows of either station.
Later afternoon is a landslide for F&M. Many of you probably read recently about Felger's opinion on Roy Halladay. That show is the best show in Boston though it has taken a couple baby steps back in recent years.
Late shows go to sports hub where Adam Jones is the most underrated guy in Boston sports radio.

But Greenie is a gasbag overly impressed with his own importance and Golic a modestly talented ex jock stealing money in a second career.

What are their next gigs?
November 17th, 2017 at 9:28 AM ^
Golic is with Trey Wingo doing pretty much the same show.
Greenberg is doing something with Michelle Beadle and Jalen Rose in NYC.
November 17th, 2017 at 9:32 AM ^
Neither sound interesting in any way.
November 17th, 2017 at 9:33 AM ^
Of course not. ESPN is dead outside of live sports.
November 17th, 2017 at 9:54 AM ^
Beadle and Rose are capable of being entertaining, especially when talking about the basketballs. Both of them are pretty knowledgeable and clever, IMO.

Haven't ever listened to Valenti either. I would occasionally catch Stoney & Wojo while in my car, and every fucking time they were having some idiotic contest about what's your favorite breakfast cereal, and I gave up those clowns.
November 17th, 2017 at 9:47 AM ^
After Sam and Ira on WTKA, Stoney and Jamie/ Karsch and Gator on WXYT I don't need more radio sports commentary.
November 17th, 2017 at 10:14 AM ^
If you've never listened to their show, why in the fuck are you commenting on this thread

They do tend to have the most commercial breaks of any of the sports talk radio shows. Very obnoxious.
November 17th, 2017 at 3:10 PM ^
Half the time they were on the air they were pitching one product or another:
"Joining us on the subway fresh take hotline is.......(insert ESPN lackey here)"
"Let me tell you once again about dollar shave club"
"Before I tell you about yesterday's Jets game, let me say something about Simply Safe....."
November 17th, 2017 at 10:07 AM ^
That is very accurate, so I change the channel, and probably forget to turn back. It was an okay show, but it got old like most things on ESPN.
November 17th, 2017 at 10:53 AM ^
I don't know if it's station management or his own style, but Karsch does the exact same thing as Greenberg -- constantly focusing on "teases" before yet more advertising.
I don't hate either show, but I do hate that aspect of both of them

Such predictable comments from mgobloggers on how much they don’t like other MGoBlog commenters criticizing some national media figure heads because it’s the trendy thing to do here. Yeah they could get annoying, but sometimes comments about comments here are as stale as Mike and Mike themselves.
