Are Jim Mora's days numbered
And, do we maybe get back into the Dorian Thompson - Robinson sweepstakes?

He was bad in Seattle too.

I seem to remember DTR really liked Jedd Fisch.
Edit - Found the article:
https://watchstadium.com/news/jedd-fisch-ucla-dorian-thompson-robinson-…
On Monday, it was reported that Jedd Fisch, Michigan’s passing game coordinator, would be leaving to accept UCLA’s offensive coordinator job. And, on the heels of that announcement, 4-star quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson said it would be “very hard” for another team to beat out the Bruins now that they’ve hired Fisch.
September 25th, 2017 at 10:27 AM ^
I was told that he was one of the biggest negative recruiters of us when he went to UCLA(assuming in relation to DTR).
September 25th, 2017 at 11:16 AM ^
I bet Fisch "bumped into" Asiasi a couple of times or called to "check up on him" when he heard he was wavering.
September 25th, 2017 at 12:10 PM ^
Maybe Asiasi may want to come back?

I've wondered where he would have been if he'd stayed.
We all expected Bunting to be the man this year but it appears he is #5 in the pecking order today. TJ has also not been feaured (might be injured). They have both been AWOL so far this season.
I happened to be on the bridge on Stadium Dr. over State St. on my bike the day BTN was doing their UM day and saw McKeon torch our pass defense a few times and knew he'd be a factor this year. Gentry, however, has taken me by surprise (Eubanks, as well). While he fills a bit different TE role than those guys, Asiasi leaving my not be the loss we had thought it would be.
September 25th, 2017 at 12:56 PM ^
I believe Asiasi would have been our #1 option this year, and the rest would rotate in situationally. He was a complete TE besides top end speed. Fantastic blocker too. I believe Harbaugh would have made him into a high round pick. That being said....We appear to be in great hands. McKeon does seem to be Jake Butt kind of guy that Harbaugh covets.
September 25th, 2017 at 1:52 PM ^
You are crazy if you think Asiasi was not a big loss. He would have been huge to help cover up the weakness on the left ide of the line.

would be grass, and Jim Harbaugh would be Willie Nelson if it meant a chance to get DTR.

If Mora gets fired, and when we hire a 10th coach in the offseason Id assume its an offensive coach we will hire. Could that coach be Fisch? could we offer him more money and give him CO-OC to come back? would Harbaugh want him back? A lot of our players liked him, but idk if it would be a consideration.
September 25th, 2017 at 10:28 AM ^
Back before "It's Happening!" actually happened, I embarassingly had Mora on my own personal short list of guys I would have liked to have seen get hired to take the HC job. Good God, I'm glad THAT didn't happen...

Don't feel bad, I was also on the "I hope Mora comes to UM bandwagon if we did not get Harbaugh. " I was sure wrong about him.

So was I, boy am I ever glad we dodged that bullet.

As I recall, in the midst of the 2,000,000 or so Coaching Change threads at the end of 2014, before it did in fact happen, Jim Mora came up more than once and while some may deny it now, the idea was not entirely discounted by more than a few people. Rather, it generated at least enough discussion that some people were at least listening. As you are, I am also glad we passed on this, if indeed there was even a realistic shot - there may not have been.

Ahh, those were the days. I remember Dan Mullen being a hot name at that time too.
September 25th, 2017 at 1:18 PM ^
THE hot name. Brian explicitly said that Mullen was the Plan B if Harbaugh turned us down.
September 25th, 2017 at 2:13 PM ^
I would have been completely fine with Mullen if Harbaugh wasn't an option. He has been consistently good at a school where it's hard to win at, with less talent than his counterparts.
September 25th, 2017 at 3:11 PM ^
LSU by 30 points and has consistently made Mississippi State a 8 win team. He should still be a hot name. He can coach and recruit.

I like Fisch, but I think the addition of Pep Hamilton makes it impossible for him to comeback with the staff as currently constituted. You can't have Fisch, Hamilton, Drevno all competing to call the shots. I think that Harbaugh would take him back if he thought he needed Fisch, but the dynamic would have to change. Fisch left because the dynamic wasn't working for him and he wanted more responsibility.
September 25th, 2017 at 10:35 AM ^
He could replace Drevno as OC and Frey could coach the entire OL.
September 25th, 2017 at 10:49 AM ^
feel that there may be some philosophical friction between Drevno and Hamilton. Our offensive playcalling has looked completely incoherent at times, as though it is coming from two different ideas that are incongruent. Never was it more evident than the first three series on Saturday. It did not look like Speight knew what they hell they were trying to do. He was not playing with any conviction at all. He looked flat out confused.
For better of worse, on Saturday when O'Korn came in, the rest of the day looked like Drevno-ball. Drevno-ball is not the greatest, but at least I thought I understood what the offense was trying to do.
