Ross Ade Expected to Sell Out for Saturday's Game
First time since 2008 when they beat Indiana for the Old Oaken Bucket. I don't remember that year though, Michigan definitely didn't play them. Before that, it was 2007 when they started 5-0 (including wins over ND and Minnesota) and a ranking of 23rd (also the last time they were ranked) before losing at home against Ohio.
It's a 4 hour drive from AA to West Laffalot -- Ross Ade is not the worst stadium to watch a football game (they serve beer there now)

It's expected to have a sellout when your biggest rival comes to town...

I bought my tickets off the Purdue website ... which means I now get all Purdue sports updates - yuck. But - I just got an email this morning from Purdue Athletics saying there were still plenty of available seats left for "homecoming". Hopefully we'll have a large contingent of M fans there. There are 4 in my group !!!

Interesting strategy scheduling your toughest game on homecoming. You usually like to schedule a team you'd expect to beat.
September 22nd, 2017 at 1:15 PM ^
Like Purdue expected to beat anyone when they scheduled their games lol

The point of scheduling michigan for homecoming was to get a sell-out crowd and get max money.
Indiana also has michigan scheduled for their homecoming game.

I mean, we have Rutgers for homecoming this year. I assume in an attempt to break the all-time points scored against a visiting team record at Michigan Stadium.
Purdue is going to have sadness and pain for homecoming. Which I suppose is fitting for West Lafayette, Indiana.

What is the record in the modern era?
Delaware State received quite the whoopin in recentish memory.
September 22nd, 2017 at 1:31 PM ^
...the record will be rewritten this year.

1986: Michigan 69 v. Illinois 13
Bo loved beating some Illinois ass.
September 22nd, 2017 at 1:58 PM ^
Not sure how "modern era" is really defined, but going back to WWII, it's the following. There were a ton of home games where Michigan scored 63. Illinois was on the losing end of 3 of these games (although one was the crappy 2010 game)
1981 vs Illinois 70-21
1976 vs Navy 70-14
1986 vs Illinois 69-13
1979 vs Northwestern 69-0
1947 vs Pitt 69-0
2010 vs Illinois 67-65
2010 vs Bowling Green 65-21

WD, you changed your username???
September 22nd, 2017 at 4:32 PM ^
Delaware state in 2009 was 63-6.
By modern, I meant not the games like this one in 1901:
October 26 | Buffalo* | Regents Field • Ann Arbor, MI | W 128–0 |

Here's another good one from 1902
October 8 | Michigan Agricultural* | Regents Field • Ann Arbor, MI (Rivalry) | W 119–0 |

Of course. We are everyone's rival. Every team wants to beat UM so badly, even when our squad is awful. You guys saw how Rutgers celebrated after beating an awful UM team.

it's a Purdue related post. C'mon mods ... people just downvote WD for no reason at all. Take all the downvoters on WD's post and stick them on the next charter to Bolivia !

That is not the point. He is doing it on purpose to troll and fish for up votes.
September 22nd, 2017 at 1:48 PM ^
So I'd imagine you're one of the downvotes, then?

People keep asking this, but a few things:
1) Nobody knows who the serial downvoters are. That level of detail doesn't exist in this interface.
2) Nobody has THAT much time considering how complex the collective blog's feelings are in this matter.
3) Part of being a veteran here is being at least semi-comfortable in your perceived (both self and as seen by others) role, which WD apparently is.
I mean, there are people who specifically do it to be an ass perhaps, but other than guess based on the votes on his threads, which would be purely anecdotal and not enough by anyone's standards, there's not a lot to do about it.

uhh -- yeah -- i think people can post about Purdue's stadium and not lose the game for the players and coaches actually involved.

How does Ross Ade compare to Gatorade?

Both started in the 1900's. And almost the same amount of letters.

Sweating my fat ass off, yelling loudly from Section 102. Looking forward to a Michigan victory on the road.

On Sunday my biggest worry was losing to Purdue. Now I feel like the much more likely thing to worry about is getting absolutely fried in that afternoon heat. The section faces west and it'll get the shadows probably last as the sun sets.
