Michigan v. Florida -- Team Speed Thread
This seemed to me to be the fastest UM team I have ever seen. And, against a very athletic UF squad. Especailly on defense -- seemed like we repeatedly got to people who would have been missed in years past, and got to people earlier. But, backs also seemed to have more speed, and Speight showed that the weight loss paid off on the scramble for a first down early on. Be interesting to see whether this remains true all year, or if it was more scheme and anticiipation and less raw speed.

SEC SPEED!!!!!!

Weird, the announcers barely talked about speed all day. I wonder why?

I thought Blackledge was very aware of what Michigan brought in terms of speed, and it showed again and again and again. There was nowhere on the field that I thought Michigan was at a loss for speed except for a the FL DEs taking advantage of Ulizio a few times and Cole once.
Other than that, our receivers, ends, backs, etc all showed as much or more speed than FL all game long.

Josh Metellus on SEC speed: “I’m from South Florida. There’s nobody faster than me.”

Sounds like there is something wrong with his Medulla Oblongata.

Both "than me" and "than I" are considered standard nowadays.

But not for good reasons. That's why I signed /conjunctionist.

I'm inclined to agree, but it felt good to see this thread after Corso's basic-ass analysis before the game.

they're always going to have a naysayer, and what better mind than Corso to have in that position...

No joke. I told my friends this today. He is arguably the fastest linebacker we have ever had (Peppers not included) but I too worry he will cost us big against a rival. Still though, I'll take him and his speed every day.

Devin Bush is insane. I've been saying that all summer, Gedeon is Gedeon...but Bush is going to be a MONSTER.
The front 7 on this team is ELITE when it comes to football speed. It starts with Hurst.

Bush was a revelation. Might get himself in trouble (nearly got himself thrown out on the first play) occasionally but he was a monster.
They're all monsters. Metellus was terrific. McCray was himself. Carlo Kemp was making great plays. They're everywhere.

He was tracking to be ELITE.
It's also not a surprise that he almost got tossed. I set his regular season games at 11.25 full games this year. He was going to miss one and I think this close call was the absolute BEST thing that could've happened to him.
