This reminds me of the idiot in my fraternity who sent an email saying he could get legit fake IDs for $100. A couple guys went in. He got arrested.

It's not a lot more, but a Moderator on Gator Bait (Florida's 247 forum) has confirmed the rumors (said number of players could change)

Link?

The only reported local news today about football players in Florida in trouble for credit card fraud is about USF Bull players
August 12th, 2017 at 1:38 PM ^
a Florida mod on Gator Bait has acknowledged the rumors about UF players
August 12th, 2017 at 1:41 PM ^
Lol I would love it if the OP had the wrong team.
August 12th, 2017 at 4:11 PM ^
That's not from today. That happened in June.
August 12th, 2017 at 1:55 PM ^
They will have to forfeit their credit cards and only use UF issued debit cards charged to the football teams account...
Screw the SEC. We will destroy them. And show them how the B1G prepares players for the speed of the NFL!!
GO BLUE!!!

The rumors are spreading with SEC speed

these guys will be well on their way to earning that bachelor's degree in "Florida Man."
Note to OP: I would rewrite the headline to read "Rumor: 80 Florida players may not be in trouble." It's more grabby.

the "investigation" will go on until the Michigan game is over and THEN the suspensions will begin
August 12th, 2017 at 3:43 PM ^
a 2nd game suspension for a player a few years back? He did before the season started and it obviously involved a tough opponent in week one.

Nah, he just needs the names of who to pay to cover the restitution. Then things are back to normal.

Hearing more here in Gainesville. No idea how accurate this info is, but it sounds plausible.
Word now is that the players were using a financial aid or school issued card and then reporting it stolen so that it would get replaced. Essentially, they could double the money.
Supposedly one player did it and told others and then they started doing it as well. A single incident didn't throw up any red flags, but when the number of people claiming lost or stolen cards starting growing the admin started looking into it. Apparently one player admitted to it and gave the name of the guy that came up with the scam.
Supposedly one player (not a starter) has already been dismissed from the team. I am guessing that would be the ring leader. The other players are going to have to make restitution to remain eligible. Punishment will be handled in house. No charges filed with authorities.
It's also being said that one player was forced to leave his shared apartment by another players parents who have the lease to the apartment.
Looks like this whole thing has huge potential to be divisive in the locker room and be a huge distraction.
BTW, the starters involved are supposedly Callaway and OL Taylor. Once again, this is just what I heard.

It sounds like there is a snitch/coverup situation. That could really poison the locker room.
I smell the end for Jim Sharkelwain.

Some people are saying Malik Zaire might be involved

You could at least create an account name for the team you truly root for. It's not like we don't know there isn't an ounce of "Blue" in your blood. You must be "buckeye" as you are not that smart.

More likely a UF persona - still with the Meyer commonality (and ethical track record)
