A slimmer Brady Hoke
Looks like he's been working on his genetics.
Must have been stress eating.
Add a little exercise and it is a package deal.
Sure it is -- just avoid bad food and watch your portions.
ohhhhhhhhhh
portion conTROL!
</Prince voice>
You win!
You think that's maybe why he looked so much bigger before?
Seriously, good for Brady. This should help improve his long-term health.
Probably, I imagine if he lost a wagon during a river crossing and got dysentary, he probably burned a lot more calories while walking...wait for it...The Oregon Trail.
And now you lose.
to be fair, he's really more focused on football speed than actual speed
I always liked Hoke. Happy to see him on his feet and doing what he loves.
There's a life lesson in Brady Hoke's trajectory -- not everyone is best served by climbing to the next level. Some people are just really good at the "lower" positions. And having good people in those positions is what makes the world go around.
By all accounts Hoke is an outstanding DL coach. It'll be interesting to see how Tennessee's DL does.
Are you a member of the Feudalist party?
I've heard about people being promotoed to mediocracy, where they excel at what they did originally getting promoted until they are at a job that they are only ok at.
I've shifted my mindset in the last two years. For a long time I've been trying to push to get promoted and move up the ladder. With kids now, and seeing what my manager and director go through, I'm ok with continuing being an engineer. I still get to affect the company positively and get to do what I enjoy. Its really freeing when you realize being happy in your current position is ok.
Mattison and Don Brown both seem to have enjoyed long successful careers where they weren't the head coach.
Great DL coach, bad head coach. Just because you excel at a lower job, doesn't mean you have the tools to suceed in a higher position
was the right man for a job as big at Michigan. Clearly he was not the guy to work for Brandon or succeed RR. At Ball St and SDSU, he was fine. He has the "tools" for those kinds of jobs, IMO. He wasn't not great at those places, but neither was he bad. And in my mind, he's no different than dozens and dozens of other college coaches who aren't right for big time jobs, but many of whom continue to run programs to varying degrees of success and who are often forgettable.
Reality is the list of really good college football coaches is small, and the list of guys who could have come in after RR and worked for Brandon successfully ... man, that list is tiny.
Not having to go on as many recruiting home visitis probably is helping him a lot. I hope he does well, but I still hope Tennessee sucks. I can't root for Butch Jones.
I expect Tennessee to be bad this year and I think there's a good chance the whole staff is done after this season. I'm hoping that their DL stats improve, though, and that Hoke can continue to work in that position in big-time programs.
Fire .... (ah you know the drill)
Good for them.
Fat drunk and terrible at coaching football is no way to go through life.
Dad?
Animal House/Caddy Shack quotes and derivatives thereof - always welcome.
Following your advice, I just "dropped" 15 pounds, and all it took was 2 cups of coffee and a cigarette...
I'm a chew guy. Coffee and a chew. Works every time.
I started as a chew guy too. Man, that shit is like rectal Draino. It just clears the pipes right out...
Chew, as in, tobacco??? Please explain what chew is...
Yes, chewing tobacco. I was a Kodiak man, way back in the day. It's a super gross habit, but once you start, man that shit tastes good...
Looks like he has executed his diet plan perfectly. Hope he keeps working on his technique.
