OT: RichRod's New QB is a 26-Year-Old He Recruited at Michigan
This happened a few days ago, but I didn't see it reported on the board. Arizona just signed a 26-year-old walk-on freshman quarterback named Donovan Tate - a recruit from the 2009 class that RichRod had recruited while he was at Michigan. I found at least one MGoBlog post from the past that said Tate was actually on campus for a visit.

Tate is a baseball prospect who flamed out because of injuries and substance abuse, and now he's trying football. He committed to North Carolina in 2009, but decided to play baseball when the Padres made him the No. 3 overall pick (taking him ahead of Mike Trout).
Arizona people are saying he has a great chance of being RichRod's starter this season. By way of historical perspective, he was in the same recruiting class as Matt Barkley and Manti T'eo. Our top recuits that year were Craig Roh and Will Campbell.
How have you never seen Smokin' Jay Cutler?
If that picture were real I think he'd be a lot more popular.
Is that you?
Can you still throw that ol pigskin a quarter mile?
mountains
This is like the 1991 classic "Necessary Roughness," where 34 year old high school quarterback hero Paul Blake (played by "Quantum Leap" veteran Scott Bakula) leaves his farm to come play for the Texas State Fighting Armadillos, a team that can't offer scholarships and is crushed by sanctions. Wacky antics ensue, as Sinbad and the gang try to play both ways and have Elle Machperson (who is still hot at 50, FYI) as their kicker.
My prediction? Rich Rod will have a heart attack mid-season, and Robert Loggia will coach the rest of the season, all the while trying to fend off the evil Dean of Students bent on destroying the football program once and for all...
You might also want to Google "Rosario Dawson Bathtub." That's a new twist in her career...
thank you for that sir
You are absolutely correct, sir. It was Kathy Ireland. And unlike Elle, she turned into a wildabeest at some point in time...
Pics or it didn't happen.
and she wasn't old, she was young and smokin hot
Manu Manu The Slender and his famous "I'm going to go out and get some poi" sack celebration. Quite possibly Rob Schneider's best role too, and no, I'm not forgetting about "Judge Dredd" or "The Animal".
It's a common term in contracts for high draftees who are being bought out of a scholly.
You go to Auburn, or Ohio State, or Alabama, or FSU or . . .
yep. this is why it's so fucked up when top athletes are pressured to pick football over baseball. anyone who can go into the top few rounds of the mlb draft should take that over a NCAA football scholly, with the POSSIBLE exception of a true #1 overall QB like a Josh Rosen.
That is all.
Circle of life.
My first thought was to wonder if Justin Feagin still had eligibility?
Yeah, I thought maybe he had just gotten out of jail and was looking for a fresh start.
It raises him up
Yep, I remember Tate. Pretty crazy journey, it'd be cool to see things work out for him. He's also from Cartersville, which is a great town (also where current #1 QB recruit Trevor Lawrence is from).
signing bonus from the Padres. I'd say that things have already worked out just fine for him.
Hope he used that money wisely
Mad Hatter thinks so, as he had a substance abuse problem I believe the article indicated.
I think that honor goes to Chris Weinke at Florida State. Wasn't he 27 when he went to play college ball?
Weinke was 25 when he started at FSU. He was 28 when he won the Heisman though, so he's the oldest to get that.
isn't the answer, but your question made me think of him for the first time in probably 30 years or more.
Do walk ons actually sign?
Do woodchucks chuck?
And you'll be fancied by college girls much younger than you.
Does life get any better?
So yeah, life can get better.
