Assuming "had" was a typo on Schefter's part. Glad it's official though

Callin' Rappin Randle...do your thing. Hamilton style.
EDIT (below):
"For those that thought we'd be down and out
Forgotten about, still stuck in this drought
We shout HAIL! ...Another stepping stone is laid
Another path is paved. M flag raised.
...buckeyes taste good, until they're microwaved.
Maize and blue forever, our heads held high
Wait rewind, what the fuck's a buckeye?...
Oh nevermind - Harbaugh's on the move
Another 'croot another camp, forever making news
Offseasons used to be boring before Coach came to the Deuce
The ships been righted, QB's are excited
Receivers delighted - this the real M United!
When Jedd Fisch left they said we'd lost a step
But there's nothing to sweat, Jim went and got Pep."

Put a pep in your step and a glide in your slide....EPMD has gone nationwide.

Sad!
January 9th, 2017 at 5:39 PM ^
His track record in college would counter that cheap shot arguement.
Oh wait... now I get it.

But this still looks like an upgrade.
January 9th, 2017 at 5:39 PM ^
This is why Harbaugh is so valuable. It's not just his own game-planning and approach to the game, but he has the ability to let go of Fisch while simulataneously finding someone he already has a relationship with that may be just as good or better.
January 9th, 2017 at 6:20 PM ^
Losing a great coordinator should be bad. With Harbaugh, it's just a chance to watch him find another impressive addition to the coaching tree.
January 9th, 2017 at 7:14 PM ^
Any assistant should want to coach for Harbaugh, especially minorities. There are currently 7 African-American head coaches in the Power 5 conferences and only 13 in all of FBS. Three of them are from the the Jim Harbaugh coaching tree (David Shaw, Willie Taggart, Derek Mason). That is unbelievable.

One issue with being a top college football program is losing assistants to HC positions. It's amazing what Harbaugh can do to bring in new guys that are at the very least on par with what we just lost. Brown was an amazing hire and Pep looks to be a good one, too. Love what Harbaugh has done with his staff since his arrival.

To be fair it was the Browns though, so barely NFL
/I kid, I kid.
January 9th, 2017 at 6:11 PM ^
I know Harbaugh had a relationship w/ him before, but this could totally be a template to poach future people for the coaching staff---
Look to the NFL for teams that are toxic or a tire fire. Find the 1-2 super solid people who happen to be on that staff (likely young up & comer types who took a spot in the toxic franchise because it was a step up in responsibility or allowed them to break into the NFL) & offer them an escape hatch.
The sales pitch would essentially be: "This is not a downward move. The way big time college programs run now, at worst this is a lateral move that allows you to get out of the toxic team you're currently in. Come on over and polish up your resume with a team that has a winning culture. Then either move up the college ranks, or lateral back to the NFL once you have the stink of Cleveland washed off of you."

I live in Cleveland and that statement is ..... True

Mo' Pep!
January 9th, 2017 at 5:39 PM ^
accurate? Assistant HC?
Interesting. So who will actually call plays? Drevno or Pep Hamilton?

He's kind of a downer so I think he might be drinking bleach.
January 9th, 2017 at 5:55 PM ^
Drevno, Fisch, and Harbaugh collaborated on playcalling.
January 9th, 2017 at 6:39 PM ^
As did Wheatley and Jay. I assume Pep and Drevno will have much more say though.
January 9th, 2017 at 5:54 PM ^
He is the passing games coordinator. Jedd often called passing plays in game. It's not a stupid question—I think they'll both call plays.
or read the backstory on the "Good Shit Jedd" Gif.

b/c it says "Asst HC/passing game coordinator."
Drevno does not have 'Assistant Head Coach' in his official title (at least not yet, anyway).
So it raises the question of whether Hamilton is being hired in with a title above Drevno's and also the question of how JH will allocate play calling responsibility.
