We are not alone.
Everyone knows how our fan base currently feels. Perhaps they can only imagine.
Since this will most certainly be discussed throughout the rest of the season, I thought I would post the very beginning of the majority's subjective view of that 4th down run in the first OT.
Hopefully this consoles those, like myself, who still believe.

Edit: I understand there were numerous atrocious calls and non-calls for that matter, but the above (in my opinion), was paramount to the others and handled terribly by the stripes

My original post was mostly sarcasm. I thought they did everything they had to do to win that game, but it really just came down to turnovers, and in that department, we unfortunately had our worst game against the most opportunistic defense in college football. I was certain before the game started that OSU would struggle with long fields all day, as they haven't been able to do anything with them against anyone. And this was true, but we gift wrapped them 14 points on turnovers and that's your game right there.

had something to do with not winning the big east and not being in the playoffs. M loss. One has to live with it. Stop the excuses.

Uhhh.... If that or possibly any of the other 'questionable' calls are different, it would have changed the outcome and it would have absolutely changed where our team is going. M would have been going to the B1G champ game and most likely the playoff. This is one of the biggest bad calls in the history of the sport. I really don't think I'm exaggerating by saying that. Changing any of the poor calls could have changed the outcome, giving him the line to gain because its the easier call is literally taking the game away. It should have been over there, it very well may have never got to that point if the game was called well from the start.

I've always felt that the replay rules are set up to get more plays wrong. The on-the-field call has no bearing on whether or not the play was called correctly. I say we stick a camera on the refs, get their exact perspective, and then, if the play goes to replay, ignore their call completely and go with what is the most likely to have happened based on replay.
November 27th, 2016 at 12:37 AM ^
I think there are 2 good counter-arguments. First, you do need a "tie-breaker" for those situations where the replay is not definitive, and going with the call on the field is better than just flipping a coin or something.
More importantly, though, the view the refs have will in many cases actually be objectively better than any replay. The refs are in the middle of the action, closer than the cameras, and carefully positioning themselves. Obviously they still get it wrong all too often, but a good chunk of that is inevitable. The cameras then can be used to step in & help out the refs when they miss a bang-bang play or can't get in the right position, etc.
November 27th, 2016 at 2:28 AM ^
In that case I think a solution would be the refs being able to make the call on the field if they think they saw it well enough (and use review as a tiebreaker), or they should just be able to not make a call, say they were out of position, and use the replay solely for the call. Is this realistic? Fuck no, but I'm tired and I hate Ohio

I'm more pissed about the Cole fasemask and then the Delano Hill PI call on an uncatchable ball. That there makes it 4th and long with 4 minutes or so to go and osu with one timeout. They then either have to go for it deep in their own end or punt and risk not getting the ball back. But I understand where you are coming from.
November 27th, 2016 at 9:42 AM ^
There was another obvious one on Darboh, in Q2 I think, that also ended a drive. But of course they called two weak ones against us to extend buckeye drives.

showing that he definitively did not cross because he ran into his O-lineman's ass which was not past the 15 when he hit it. Unless you believe the ball went up the linemans ass and made the 15 yard line, he was short.
November 26th, 2016 at 11:55 PM ^
They were like, "It looks like Barrett broke the plane of the 15-yard line while he was still in the air." Not sure what they were seeing.

I just don't get it. I've been so damn pissed all afternoon and night now. Anyone who says that complaining about this game being a pathetic thing to do, is pretty much a dumb fuck. Yeah, Michigan made some mistakes that kept the buckeyes in the game but clearly the refs played an integral part in giving the game to them. So many bad plays. How in the fuck do you give a guy forward progress(even if he did cross and not take a measurement for it by the way) when he hits his own guy and then falls on his ass clearly a yard behind the first down marker. I'd say he pretty much forfeited his position when he fell backwards himself. You've got to be fucking kidding me. Seriously, I'm coming to The Game next year in buckeye gear and am going to confront these gentlemen the way I believe is right and then run. Someone fill me in where the exit is where they leave the stadium. Someone needs to put an end to this bullshit. I'm serious. I'm not a Michigan alum and none of you guys know my face, although you might after it happens!!!

No thought of the enormity of the spot, how it looked awfully close on the camera. Just "Seems legit", let's move on.

The overhead camera is at a terrible angle.
November 27th, 2016 at 3:48 AM ^
anything with an angle is going to have some parralax to it. The one thing that view clarified to me was that 88 was holding.

for "parralax."

but with that big a discrepancy in calls in a rivalry game, and obvious PI's (our recievers getting straight up tackled before the throw) not being called, the whole thing was fishy.
The Ohio High School Ref fucked us big time. Just disgusting, but we all know Urban will do what ever is needed to win.

but why do they have a beef with Harbaugh throwing things when Saban does it, and Bo and Woody did it all the time. Football isn't like basketball. If he chucks his clipboard on the field then sure it is a penalty but he didn't.

as someone with a family member that officiates, you'd be embarrassed to know that many of these guys have reffed high school on Fridays and that the league has a poor program for referee development. He described it as a glad-handing, politicking mess with no intent to create good officials, only to 'keep games safe'.
I trust his opinion on the state of officiating more than any other, though I appreciate that doesn't mean that you should.
November 27th, 2016 at 2:34 AM ^
Well shit, if their intent is to keep games safe, where were they when Glasgow and Thomas got blindsided head to head today??

I think they were cowards the whole game. Every borderline call went OSU's way. PI calls were horribly inconsistent AND one-sided.

that was the sentiment of all the people that watched The Game with me. And perception is reality...
