"Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth."
The team had a plan.
Judging from the open threads, the general plan for the fan base was panic and more panic.

was to hope their starting QB (who was having his way with us) would go down with an injury.
It worked.

Regardless of what else was hapenning on the field, Lufau was making great throws and played with a lot of guts, he really impressed me. Definitely going to be tuning into Colorado's games for the rest of the season, and cheering for them to win the Pac 12.

Kid led his team admirably.

Michigan is insanely lucky that he got hurt. Would've probably been a 10 point game or even one possession game if he was healthy imo.
Hope he recovers quickly b/c Colorado could've easily challenged for the Pac12 this year with him at the helm.
Lifau, Lindsay, Fields and Ross are a deadly combo on offense. Then you add in their NFL quality corners and their massive Dline?
Colorado easily makes noise in the Pac12.

Damn right! Hell we probably would have been blown out!

And if they won the PAC12, it would be the first time since 1998 that none of USC/Stanford/Oregon took hom a share of the title, and Colorado's first ever PAC12 title. Best part is, I really think they have a shot.

He completed like 4 passes for positive yardage after the first quarter (one was the TD bomb when he was hobbled and everyone and their mother thought he was handing it off)... While being pressured about a dozen times, sacked and taking half a dozen big hits. Once the defense woke up I don't think it mattered a lot if he was in there. They may have moved the ball a little more, but I'm not convinced it would have translated into points.

I was impressed with him too - very smart player and can read the field like no one else. One of my underlying fears about this game was that passing spread that Liufau ran rather masterfully, and for a time, it seemed like that might be realized. Hopefully, he can get well for the heart of Colorado's schedule, as it is obvious they need him.
September 17th, 2016 at 7:27 PM ^
Agreed! I hope he has a quick recovery and will definitely watch a few more Colorado games this season.

There are faster players in straight line speed, but I have never seen anyone accelerate like Peppers. What a freak.
September 17th, 2016 at 11:11 PM ^
He was from linebacker depth to full speed instantly and into the backfield. His acceleration is unlike anything I've ever seen

Them faster players are 30 to 40 lbs. lighter too and can only ankle and knee tackle.

I can't help, but feel like Michigan got a little lucky today. Liufau was keeping Colorado toe-to-toe with Michigan, and could have definitely led them to victory... I'm definitely glad that Liufau's backup went 0/7 though, so I won't complain haha.

Special teams is great but Speight is more than apt at the QB position. Did he have a good game? No. But he is more than capable of being great for M. This game had WAY more nuance than just Speight not having a good game.

People have said this about Alabama nearly every single season, "but can they win with [insert QB name]???", and the answer is a resounding "YES".
Now I'm not comparing our depth to Alabama, but talent-wise we're easily Top-10 in the nation.
So, yes, we can win the BIG with Speight!
He got rattled early, and had to press as starter for the first itme in his life.
Expectations are high as always at Michigan, but let's not forget he's a first-year starter in his 3rd game of the season. LOL, he's still finding his feet!
September 17th, 2016 at 7:47 PM ^
also I think Speight did get hurt (a little). Those next few downfield throws after that were WAAAAAAAY off.
Obviously maybe it was just a stinger on his shoulder, but it felt clear once Morris came in for that special package play (although Harbaugh said it was not because Speight was hurt).
Also I don't understand Speight slowing up and having that Colorado player pop him.
Clearly he's still "young" and a got a little emotional.
September 17th, 2016 at 7:13 PM ^
Colorado came out and punched us in the mouth early. But in my opinion, we responded well. Obviously, this game was far uglier than we'd have liked but Colorado is a good team and we still won by 3 scores.
The defense settle down after the 1st quarter (and took out the starting QB). Peppers finally got his punt return TD. Smith scored his 1st TD of the season.
They're battle-tested now. Moving on.

September 17th, 2016 at 7:16 PM ^
Colorado played well, the crowd seemed really into it, and, while the team seemed to have some weaknesses, the real weakness was MGoBlog. Man, are some of the "fans" here crap!
The team can fix most of its problems, but the assholes here (see the thread on the sidebar) probably will remain assholes.
