I'm sure this will cause no controversy whatsoever. /sarcasm

speaks to their team motto:
"The Boys, The Boys, The Boys..."

Fucking kidding me. No way in hell will this actually happen, and if it does, they deserve every terrible thing that happens to their university tenfold. I am truly disgusted

There are times that you need to look at the big picture and for PSU, letting go of Paterno is one of those times. Paterno's several decade long enablement of Sandusky's evil, one would think, is something most people would want to avoid but not some of the assholes from the PSU family.
Really makes you wonder.

every time the bees settle down, to reignite everything.
Having gone to the Penn State game last year, it is clear that the Joe Paterno worship is still there - even though not officially announced. They cheer loudly any time Paterno shows on the old footage of the psych up we are Penn State video.
Hey, at least this way they officially acknowledge it, and come in for a deserved public opinion drubbing.

unless you live in the little bubble that is Penn State. Joe Paterno had a horrible off season. All the revelations about his knowing about abuse in the 1970s mean nothing there. Why not play that game in throwback jerseys too? 2001, 1998, 1976 1971, they're probably all the same.

my sense of humor is as dark as anybody's, but if you can't draw a line at child rape, then you should probably go talk to somebody.

I was going to point out the utter hypocrisy of his comment/avatar choice but you beat me to it.
September 1st, 2016 at 3:29 PM ^
people can say whatever they want and all that happy shit. Fine. Great. Child Rape = Hilarious. I get it now. As for my avatar, South Park is IMO one of the greatest things ever created. Doesn't mean it hasn't infuriated me as well on occasion. Shock value is pretty overrated.

I think you're starting to dig yourself into a hole you probably don't want to be in, but I'll provide a clarifying comment for you.
Child rape is not hilarious, it's a horrible, horrible tragedy. So is human slavery. So is cancer. So is genocide. But people tell jokes (which are the things that are funny - not the things themselves - see the distinction?) about all of them because it helps us cope. If you start to decide that one thing is not funny, then you've made a pretty significant value judment that that thing is way worse or more important than other forms of human suffering. Which might be kind of insulting to some people who have suffered a great deal. Comedy avoids this (or should avoid this) by deciding not to choose, instead choosing to mock everything equally.

I'm gonna guess you also enjoyed the movie The Aristocrats

I agree with most of it. I have a strong resentment toward this particular subject matter that nobody gives a shit about. I've broke one of my own rules about using this blog and for that I apologize.

Amen to that. Truthfully, I laugh because it hurts too much to be sad. I think we all feel the same way you do about the topic. Just cope differently.
September 1st, 2016 at 4:11 PM ^
I'm sorry I called you out and overreacted. I obviously had you wrong

Didn't South Park have an entire episode dedicated to lampooning NAMBLA? Hilarious stuff even if the subject matter is horrifying.
September 1st, 2016 at 4:35 PM ^
No worries, man. If you're looking for a movie that epitomizes how we both feel about a related topic you really need to watch Call Me Lucky. Hilarious and genuinely heartbreaking. I haven't cried like that in a long time (call me lucky).
September 1st, 2016 at 4:57 PM ^
No worries man. It's a deeply upsetting subject.

it's Penn State.
Penn State is bad for harboring a child molester.

My humor is quite dark (I watch too much celebrity roasts), but this blog just can't handle it I guess.
Case in point. Me! See my point total. Its a result of telling a dirty joke.
September 1st, 2016 at 3:38 PM ^
You should probably repeat the joke...ya know, for the uninformed.

I couldn't agree more. I jokingly make fun of Ohio State but that's more joking hatred. I legitimately hate Penn State. Their continued lack of contrition flies in the face of their "oh that's only a couple fans who can't let go" argument.
September 1st, 2016 at 3:47 PM ^
I agree, I hate Penn State more than any other college football team, and it's not close. I wouldn't feel the least bit bad if they never won another game from now until the end of time.
