Maybe it will have the double effect. Like a negative times a negative.

With some of the things DiNardo said in the latter Hoke years, this doesn't really mean much.

there is no former HC who projects an "IDK WTF I'm talking about" -vibe more than Dinardo.
Stopped watching BTN b/c of him.

What about Lou Holtz?
August 15th, 2016 at 8:57 PM ^
I've heard Holtz make good points before - I get the sense that he's being intentionally obtuse at times and knows how to get attention. Plus, he was a legit great coach so I give him the benefit of the doubt.

Plus 1 for getting the reference. Right before he had that kid shot.

He and Mark May play dumb and give HOT TAKES because they (and their producers) know it makes for good TV

[Though I'd rather than listen to him than...huh? watch him eat unpeeled fruit???] :-)
I don't get the hate I'm reading about DiNardo. I'm not going to try to claim he's the deepest thinker or best informed or hardest hitter among sports networks commentators, but I find him a lot more listenable and entertaining than 90% of what ESPN throws out there in front of the camera (and it is OK to watch BTN and enjoy being entertained, isn't it?).
And is the BTN network all that it could and should be? NO! But again, what are the alternatives on the tube? That's why the front page on MGoBlog is so very valuable to me as my primary source of the latest on Michigan Sports, being that I'm someone who lives nearly 2 1/2 hours from Ann Arbor and out of the range of WTKA and other local Ann Arbor sources.
I view BTN primarily as entertainment and as a supplemental source of info on Michigan Football and the B1G in general and find myself relatively happy when looking at it with that perspective in mind. Once I started thinking in those terms about the BTN several years ago, I stopped getting angry about their programs (with the exception of throwing ancient history nonsense out there about schools like Nebraska and Rutgers, etc., as if those things were part of Big Ten history. No, BTN----Tom Osborne-coached Nebraska shit is NOT part of B1G history!!!).

Those battles against Notre Dame were epic and no lead was ever safe with that little man wandering the sidelines across the way.

Never sure whether he's drunk or having some type of stroke.

I have to go with Glen Mason. Last night on BTN Live he said that he would only play Peppers at LB because sometimes when you try to play a guy both ways you take a great player and turn him into just a very good player. Uh, ok. Did he watch any football at all last year? What a dolt.
August 16th, 2016 at 12:51 PM ^
You can just tell his gears are just barely turning.

There's only so much you can gather from watching a practice. I feel like more than anything he just likes to be a crowd pleaser.
August 15th, 2016 at 8:59 PM ^
thought that popped into my mind after reading the headline.

In Dinardo's defense, I remember Dinardo saying that we had big physical bodies and talent so we could compete for the conference title in 2012 and 2013. Was that not true? Hoke had the talent, Hoke just could not develop it well and put it into a gameplan (especially QB).
So you watch a practice and you see a lot of talent and size and come away impressed like Dinardo did. What is missing is that they weren't going up against another team with a coach who knew how to use his players.

had more talent than anyone in the Big Ten besides OSU and considering where that talent is now ranked, it is hard to argue with that assessment. He just didn't mention that Hoke couldn't coach.

Any team can go undefeated as everyone is 0-0 right now.

C'mon man. The difference between "can" and "will" is not that difficult to grasp.

All the Scarlet Knights have to do is drop their football program.
And they'll save a ton of money, even more than if they switched their car insurance provider.
