OT: Tigers Opening Day
I'm stoked for the baseball season to start.
GO TIGERS!
The coldest Tigers home opener on record this year. Good thing they start in Miami so that they can enjoy some warmer weather before coming home to freezing winds and a stadium that'll likely be half full after the 3rd innning b/c of the cold. Hooray April in Michigan!

in 2010. Man was that cold. I was shocked when I read this morning that wasn't the coldest opener ever at Comerica. It didn't snow that day, and the air temperature was around 40 degrees, but the wind howled all afternoon. I'm guess with wind chill that day it was around 25 degrees.
But last bridge to Football, I will follow until late, late August.
Keyword is IF. The offense should be near the top of the league i think but pitching is a big ????, could be great could be very average.
love to seem them be great and win a world series but frankly I just want them to be good enough so I stay interested until football season.
Considering the rotations in Cleveland and the South Side, this line up is going to struggle.
I don't see us making the playoffs with this roster this season, or in any future season until all of our aging core is gone. And sadly, we don't have any pieces to fill the holes left behind since we've been in "win now" mode for the last 10 years. I forsee a slide similar to what the Phillies are going through. They went all-in, and came out with a WS in 2008 (W) and made the WS in 2009 (L). I just can't see this team winning the WS, let alone make the playoffs. Gonna be another long season.
Let's see if the second half of Verlander's 2015 season can continue.
I don't think too much Tigers baseball is being played this weekend. Stay in Miami.
but maybe they have a closer who can finally do that..........
I miss Ernie.
I'll never forget holding my radio up to my ear with the volume really low (I was supposed to be sleeping) and listening to Tigers baseball growing up. The great (early-mid) 80s teams were the height of my fandom.
"Thank you Paul"
"A lady from Hamtrammick caught that one"
So pumped for baseball season! Stay healthy and this team will be fun to follow!
I was so excited to watch baseball yesterday that I was glued to games day and night and completely forgot about the NCAA basketball finals until the game was over.

growing up in Michigan listening to the Tigers on the radio, and my childhood hero, Al Kaline (to this day my lucky number is "6", his jersey number). Didn't need TV. How about a few names from the past - Willie Horton, Norm Cash, Ray Oyler (good glove, no hit), Bill Freehan, Micky Lolich, Gates Brown (what a pinch hitter!), Dick McAuliffe, Mickey Stanley, Rocky Colavito (one of 13 players to hit 4 home runs in a game), etc. (I'll even add Denny McLain, last 30 game winner, but couldn't seem to stay out of jail) Simpler times.
Biggest horse's ass I've ever met in my life and there wasn't a person I knew who wouldn't say the same. But, man, could he throw a ball.
"The great voice of the great lakes. WJR Detroit."
and
"Welcome to our broadcast. I'm Ernie Harwell along with Paul Carey, here to bring you all the action from the corner of Michigan and Trumbull."
Were they the perfect pairing of voices, or what? Ernie's down-home, friendly Georgia twang for the first three and the last three innings, and Paul's "Voice of God" covering the 4th through the 6th. Just perfect.
Wahoo!
Here's to Giancarlo Stanton's run to hopefully breaking the single season home run record this year
and Lets Go Fish!
FUCK YA! Stanton with a 2 run homer!
I didn't even know it had started till yesterdayWell in the Tigers' case it hadn't started yesterday, so you didn't miss anything.

and heck my Rockies won big, so I can still be optimistic for another day. I'm sure they will be fun for April, then May rolls around and the always tank and I start getting excited for football then.
I'm excited for tonight, the Tigers usually crush Wei Yin Chen so hopefully they're able to keep up the trend tonight. Still it's weird for them to open up the season in the south and against an NL team to boot.

Been patientily waiting for tonight for a few weeks now. Spring football is a great holdover, but baseball is what gets me through the summer and into football season.
MLB.tv, why you no show game?

...give this stream a try (binsoccer.com). As always I recommend the useful combo of Adblock and Flashblock.
Great Start!! Up 4-0 in the second. Verlander got a hit, and Kinsler had a 3 run homer.
