OT(?): Indiana locks up B1G Regular Season Title
Surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet, but Indiana beat Iowa tonight 81-78. They have locked up the (outright) B1G regular season title. Just glad Sparty didn't win it...
With Purdue easily beating Nebraska we're locked in as the 8 seed regardless of what happens on Saturday.
So we'll likely get the lovely task of having to face Indiana again if we win our second round game.
Greaaat...
Not true actually.
Here's some notable scenarios in which we end up in the 7th seed:
Maryland goes 0-2
(OSU-MSU doesn't matter)
(Purdue-Wisconsin doesn't matter)
Maryland goes 2-0
OSU @ MSU
(Purdue-Wisconsin doesn't matter)
Maryland goes 1-1
OSU @ MSU
Wisconsin @ Purdue

He's also missed the tournament 4 times in 8 years and never made it past the Sweet 16.

IncrediblyTROLLISH.
IIRC many of those cuts came due to off the court issues like legal troubles. Last year my family in southern Indiana was upset that Crean couldn't keep his guys in line during the off season.
IU went to the national title game in 2002 under Mike Davis, so not quite two decades.
Indiana is playing really, really well. And they actually went a little cold towards the end of the Iowa game and still did plenty to win.
I'm calling it now. Elite Eight...POSSIBLY Final Four, for Indiana.
Not sure they'll make the Final Four, but yeah...they came out of nowhere and are rolling at the moment.
Of course you backtrack and edit your post... :)
Good catch..Damn you were quick to see that! I should've left it...looked like a genius!
Sweet Sixteen exit to further enrage Eye You nation.
I wonder if they'll cut down nets if they lose to Maryland this weekend like they did when they lost to OSU in 2013 after clinching a share of the title.
Heh right...I mean, it is an odd thing to do...but, an outright 'ship is an outright 'ship!? But yea it's Crean....it's jackass thing to do!
Michigan just needs to extend Iowa's losing streak to five games.
We both know they won't, this is an awful matchup for us.
Bielfedlt tried to throw away the game with his inbounds.
He did that several times in 2015 for us.
I still will never forgive him for blowing a wide open pick and roll pass against Wisconsin the the Big Ten tournament. I believe the game was tied and a WIDDE open basket was there for the taking instead he turned the wrong way and the ball goes out of bounds. Spike was pissed.
We're not exactly on a roll either. Maybe we'll awaken with a vengence on Saturday.
How dare you bring in facts that go against someone else's narrative.
Yeah but when we won it in 2014 MSU won the tournament championship.
Tournament championship means literally nothing. That's why teams don't hang banners for it.
It's much more a test of endurance and depth than actual talent, and MSU had a much older, deeper team that year. With less injuries by tournament time.
Must mean something since every conference (except ivy league) has one and uses it to assign their NCAA tournament auto-bid.
So you honestly don't care that we lost the B1G tournament championship game in 2014, because it wouldn't have meant anything?
People said the same fucking thing about Ohio State not making the playoff or winning a National Title again in football - deemed the greatest thing ever
People thought it was hilarious that an Ohio State player got hurt because he hurt his hand pounding the floor.
But a fan happy a different rival team didn't back into a conference title is deemed pathetic.
Goodness.
I'm in the "just glad we didn't win, because what else would the fire Beilein crowd talk about" party (sry no politix).
*puts on thanks obama voice* Thanks Crean
2 good years with never-seen-again talent vs 7 bleh years where we don't make the tourney or don't get out of the first weekend. What are those crazy bastards thinking?!
3-4 year window with talent he has proven to not be able to land consistently. "Will see more talent than that"? Where are you getting this?
You probably thought Hoke should be given more time because of the Sugar Bowl year didn't you?
You could copy and paste your argument for Hoke in 2013...''but the team is young!'' That is not and never will be an excuse. Everyone on here after 2013 said ''Beilein is a better coach than Matta!'' Well...Matta sure accomplished more in 9 years at OSU than Beilein has. I think John Beilein is a good coach and I appreciate what he's done but if you think he's better than middle of the Big Ten and occasionally a great run you're kidding yourself. I kinda think the point of sports is to win championships and not finnish in the middle of the big ten the majority of the time. We already did that with Amaker.
