Obligatory Michigan Ohio State HBO Documentary
If you have any other good links to share, please do. We still have 72 hours until The Game which is entirely too long IMO.

Is this on the HBO GO app? or is youtube our only platform for this?
November 25th, 2015 at 3:48 PM ^
It doesn't look like its available on HBO GO but you could torrent if you want better quality
November 25th, 2015 at 1:04 PM ^
Maybe I shouldn't watch it.
If it's because it culminates in the 2006 Game, then I'm not sure I'd get misty but I may avoid watching it for the same reason I can't re-watch the 2013 MBB NCG v. Louisville, the 2013 OSU game or the 2015 MSU game. Ever.
If you get emotional from the pure nostalgic awesomeness of seeing your heroes and idols mostly succeeding against their most bitter rival ... then I'm there.

I'll watch.

in my opinion. The 2006 game is described as "the most highly anticipated" in history and I suppose that raises the question of "anticipated by whom?" Of course the Buckeyes won that one. Could be that they hyped that one simply because the thing was produced in 2007. However, that game was no more highly anticipated (by me at least) than the 1997 game (Carr's name and the natty that team won are never mentioned), or the great battles of the early-mid 70s (when I was littler and found it impossible to sleep the night before.)
Nonetheless, highly recommended, with a lot of really funny moments in addition to the tearjerker parts @ Woody and Bo.
GO BLUE!

They hardly mentioned Cooper and Carr at all which is ridiculous.
November 25th, 2015 at 2:53 PM ^
No, no, no...trust him. I tear up every time too. This was made right as Bo passed. That plays heavily in the end...even Woody dying was a bit sad. But apart from all of that, it's a brilliant documentary. You'll love it, I promise.

?
I'm losing faith in HBO with the latest seasons of True Detective and The Leftovers (wtf?) but I'm sure back in 2007 they still had their shit together.
November 25th, 2015 at 5:32 PM ^
This season of The Leftovers has been GREAT. Totally cohesive and focused - unlike season 1. Season 1 was good enough to keep me into it, but this season seems much more robust.

I love how Mike Wallace gets his jab in with eloquence and then they immediately go to the moron OSU fan who, straining his limited vocabulary can only spit out a retort of "F*ck Michigan!". The whole rivalry summed up in about 20 seconds.
November 25th, 2015 at 1:17 PM ^
I have not seen it. Heard that it is more in favor of OSU. Plus I don't want to relive the Tressel era. I'd like to forget it ever happened.

It actually does a great job telling the history of the rivalry. I watch it every year during OSU week.
There's a lot of Bo and Woody in there. Plus most of the OSU fans look and sound like morans.
November 25th, 2015 at 2:51 PM ^
I know grammar police comments are annoying...but you said "morans"...
November 25th, 2015 at 3:23 PM ^
Well played.

Ohio State. Great documentary though. It does a nice job explaining the rivalry to the masses who may not understand it.

Anyone know why they chose Liev Schreiber to do the narration? No connection to either team or the B1G or even football?
November 25th, 2015 at 1:44 PM ^
Also he narrates the 247 HBO documentaries, so he's probably their go-to guy for sports narration.
November 25th, 2015 at 4:10 PM ^
For the record, his Father wasn't Jewish and his Mother while born Jewish was more into ashrams. (I know you were being facetious.
November 25th, 2015 at 1:50 PM ^
He does the narration on all of the HBO docs - Hard Knocks, 24/7 Boxing, the old 24/7 Winter Classic shows, etc.
He's HBO's narrator
November 25th, 2015 at 1:36 PM ^
I'll watch this several times before The Game.
November 25th, 2015 at 1:42 PM ^
Nah, can't watch it yet. Waiting until Saturday morning leading up to the game to watch it has been the recent tradition for me.
That was a very well done doc. HBO usually knocks them out the park.

I hate that documentary...
November 25th, 2015 at 2:22 PM ^
Have you watched Tiebreaker on BTN? That was pretty cool. I really thought it was amazing to hear them talk about how Bo never let that vote go and used it as fuel even 10 or 15 years later with his teams to "go out and kick Illinois' ass because those bastards voted against us". It was really informative and it was pretty cool to see guys from each team sit down and have a meal together and talk about it. It was also very clear that even more than 40 years later Mike Lantry still has a hard time dealing with the reality of his missed kick, it was kind of painful to see.
November 25th, 2015 at 2:39 PM ^
I'm gonna check it out.
November 25th, 2015 at 5:27 PM ^
Watched it last night. Excellent documentary.
November 25th, 2015 at 5:37 PM ^
That isn't fair because that one in 1974 was good. I've watched it over and over and it looks clearly good. The ref was just afraid for his life if he called it no good I think. Asshole. Even the fans, Joe Paterno in the booth, and Lantry all thought it was good.

Yeah, it definitely is a little bit. Why they let that moron Woody impersonator run his mouth is beyond me. That definitely takes away some of the quality.
November 25th, 2015 at 2:22 PM ^
Been a Michigan fan for a long, long, long time. This really captures the rivalry.

I teach a high school course called "Sports in American Society" and showed this on Tuesday before break. I live in Toledo, but it's still probably 70/30 in favor of osu in my building. I wore my Woodson jersey and had a kid tell me that my "shirt" sucked...he then attempted to try and turn in a late homework assignment at the end of class, but had not idea why I couldn't help but laughing in his face.

I know, cool story, who cares? Well, one day from thanksgiving and a few days from the game, I now feel accomplished that my wife is fully converted to being a Michigan fan. That's something I can be thankful for. Go Blue. Beat OSU.

Appreciate the link, it was moving to see Bo and Woody's relationship.
I grew up in Ann Arbor, never knew why I didn't like Ohio State, it is nice to see the history of the disdain for them.
Would've loved to see some of the Woodson vs Boston clips and a little bit of our 90's teams.
Go Blue.
