A trip to Columbus - "Pride buckeyes"
This could probably be posted under the other "Hate Week" threads, but I figured it really needs its own. This should be posted every year during this week as a reminder of , well.....the Michigan Difference. A great piece written so well, I read it every year in the last week in Novemeber.

Thank goodness it's in Ann Arbor this year!

I'd like to petition the ADs to play every game against OSU in Ann Arbor.

Brandon probably would have voted against this...

Here is the modern years rivalry breakdown:
70s/80s - Balance
90s - OSU Heartbreak
Then 15 years of cheating and beating our shitty coaches.
This year we right the ship....

experience is they are generally harmless if you don't engage them. It is pretty depressing to see people get so angry and worked up over something that they are willing to come right up into your face and scream at you, which has happened to me once before.
In 2004 a guy walked up behind me and tried to goad me into a fight by talking loudly while talking shit about Michigan and trying to put me down which even stooped to the level of homophobia.
I didn't even acknowledge him and he moved on to his next attempted victim.
When it comes down to it, they're really just assholes

Brian is a better man than I am, or at least a more patient one. If someone threw a beer in my face like that I would have lost it, even if they were twice my size. I know that because it happened before. Luckily people intervened before he was able to kill me, but that fucker did go home with a bloody nose that night, and my two black eyes were totally worth it.

That still insist they won the Michigan - Ohio war in the early 1800's,
In which the compromise agreement gave Ohio the Toledo area, and Michigan got 3/4 up the UP-
Yup ohio........you won that one!

I'm from Dayton, so I thought it would be fun to tailgate with my friends who go to OSU. It wasn't. I genuinely did not feel safe walking around campus with Michigan gear on, and Brian's piece does a good job of explaining why.

I went last year too.
It wasn't that terrible, although somebody did throw trash at me when I was walking through the concourse at halftime.
We need to get more Michigan fans there in the future; it would feel safer if you weren't the only person with maize and blue on in sight.

Not many of us at all last year

Wisconsin is worse. There is nowhere safe to park a car with Michigan plates. I've had lot owners tell me no i can't park at there lot because he can't protect it. and not being nasty about it - he regretted not letting me park there but he could't deal with the insurance headache. I get it. Wisci fans used to be the best hosts; they have turned.
I've been to ohio stadium three times (2002, 2004 and 2006) and had a great experience each time. except for the whole 0-3 part. i am in section 11A for this year's game. I have never sat there before for an OSU game so i am hopeful that i will get to see my first UM win over OSU in person. (2005, 2001 being my only other The Games). MIssed the 97 game when i was in law school because i was interviewing and couldn't get back in time and my little brother used my seat.
Yes i am 0-5 and may be a curse but i am wearing a steve yzerman t shirt underneath everything and hope that the World's Greatest Human will overcome my curse. and thinking i've never ever worn red on The Game day and thinking that may throw some new cosmic wrinkle that can alter my curse. or my travel plans may get altered and i don't make it and we win. however it has to happen i just want a win.

There's bad fans everywhere you go, but out of the road games I've been to (OSU, Penn State, Notre Dame, Minnesota) I've found Columbus to be by far the most hostile

I haven't been to Columbus, but traveled to East Lansing two years ago. I was with my buddy who went to MSU and was in the student section. Even being with a group of Spartans that were friends, I still didn' feel safe and obviously got heckled to whole game. From the "asshole" chant, to people asking if I bough my clothes at Wal-Mart, to a group of guys in a car making homophobic slurs. Leaving the game wasn't as bad, but it took all of my might not to punch to guy sitting in front of me at the game.
I know this isn't related to the thread but I had to vent haha
After the game a guy ran up to my face and said, "Have fun playing in the Little Caesars bowl asshole!"

Lantry missed? the winning field goal. I will never go back there. Their fan base is the worst. F Michigan bombs everywhere we walked. (Wish I had been there in 1976 when Michigan beat their ass 22-0)
Wisconsin fans have always treated me fine.
