Kinda OT: Advice from "significant others" of MGoBlog posters on "do you shut down after a loss?"
In response to the "do you shut down after a loss?" thread --- a request has been made to create a thread for advice from MGoBlog significant others to share their thoughts on how to handle, cope, deal with us that indeed do shut down after losses.
So MGoBlog girlfriends, boyfriends, wives, husbands, and family members...what do you do? What advice do you have to keep our relationships, families and friendships going when us MGoBloggers are being "us" after a loss?
Go Blue. Beat PSU.

We'll be there for you.
Nine out of ten spouses are going to make a Michigan loss worse anyhow, not better, by carping at you for being so infantile as to let a stupid kids game have an unreasonable effect on you.

I'm in that 9 out of 10.
She's better now than she was, but still a net negative after a loss. We just try to avoid each other after losses. Haven't found anything that helps more than that.

Same here. I just need to sulk in a corner for a while until it wears off, and not be poked and prodded until then.

That reminds me, I think my brother may need to divorce his wife, because she read Endzone, and her response was, "Dave Brandon was just misunderstood."

it might be difficult to be emotionally involved when you are "cheating" with other forums and other fan bases. It can't just be physical damnit, there has to be the feels, too.
November 19th, 2015 at 10:58 PM ^
Other fan bases probably don't have the self awareness of your average MGoPoster to make a thread like this.

Chickenpotpie usually goes into the fetal position in our dark bedroom asking me what is going on in the game. She refusss to watch if we are losing or if it's close, and it usually forces me to announce the results of each play from our living room.
As for me, I'm as calm as a cucumber.

That describes my husband and I to a T. When Denard was playing, it was incredibly fun to "watch" that way.

My two and a half year old daughter calmly approached me after the thing that should have been a punt and asked "daddy upset?". That's about all one should need to snap back to reality.
