Dontavious Jackson says Michigan on the up with great coaching staff and move to Nike
Guess all those people who were saying that the Cowhead interview would hurt recruiting were wrong.
ESPN 300 LB cut his list down to 18 in June and has slowly been whittling it down from there ever since. The article outlines he has visits planned to LSU, Bama, TX, UCLA and ND. He then says
“I’m great at adapting, so weather isn’t going to affect me, and distance won’t either. I’m just looking for the best opportunity,” he said. “Michigan is on the up with the great, new coaching staff. Of course, Michigan also just switched over to Nike, and I love Nike.”

The others are closer to home and planned to take place soon. It's hard to see how this is good news at all. He just had something nice to say.

FWIW: in a video I saw he was all smiles when they mentioned Michigan. And also claimed Michigan has "The Best Fans in the Country."
come on up young fella!

I thought Dontavious was OLB...
If they are both ILB then Bush Jr or Dontavious?

According to this article by 247, Devin Bush was measured at 5'9" at the Opening. Curios if that will affect his rating or recruiting.
Dontavious Jackson was listed as the #2 LB for the day.

Damn that's short. I can't think of any LB in my memory that was effective at that height in college
Rudy
Fuckin Rudy
Bobby Bouchet, playing that FOOZball with the Cajuns in the Bayou. He was max 5'10" but did a good impression of JJ Watt.
Sam Mills was a perennial pro-bowler. OK, so maybe that isn't all that recent.

not bashing bush but hopefully hes further down the coaches board as you mentioned bc jackson and jones are head and shoulders more talented - both now and as prospects projected several years down the line, exactly what most programs look for at ILB.
i recall seeing jacksons film months ago or whenever it was posted here and hes a beast, already appears to have college size yet still moves pretty well. and im still amazed jonathon jones has not garnered more offers and higher recruiting hype, that kid can ball.
jones and xavier kelly are 2 of more underrated prospects on D (assuming both arent ranked top 5 at their position as i believe they should be) and 2 class additions id love to see
I would say Jones is underrated. Kelly was underrated when Michigan first offered him, but he has blown up since. He is rated 20 or so spots higher than Jackson.

Haha, exactly... when I read the OP I was a little confused because I didn't remember anyone around here actually thinking that was going to be a big deal.
Regardless, the train keeps on chugging along, and it should be pretty obvious at this point that our 2016 class is going to be really good.
The person it's a big deal to is Colin Cowherd. When Harbaugh gets Michigan turned around and back on a winning basis again and every media outlet it going to want to talk to him even more than they do now, Cowherd is going to be on the outside, looking in. Cowherd just insured his becoming even more irrelevant in the college football world with that Harbaugh interview.
The sheep ran with it. After the interview the comments on the articles about it were filled with people saying "This will hurt recruiting, I'd never go to a school where a coach couldn't do an interview". Granted most people who actually think and use their brain knew that that has about .00001% chance of affecting a recruits decision to go to UM or not.
Because Harbaugh is very personable with recruits. Just because he is a dick with an asshole media guy, doesn't mean he's a dick with recruits.
I'm a dick with with the guy at work who keeps stealing my chair when I'm away, but I'm pretty nice to everyone else.
I hate that. I have someone who keeps putting clear tape on the mouthpiece of my desk phone when I'm away. I mean, I talk a lot of shit to my co-workers so I probably deserve it, but it is still annoying.
I'm going to try that - tape on the phone. Love this blog.
(sorry that it happened to you, tho)
And 99.9% of those comments probably came from Bucknuts and Sparties...with a few SEC types tagging along.
Without a doubt. I don't even think I saw any from SEC land.
Yeah, besides Cowherd's immediate declaration on his show that the interview would hurt recruiting, it's a concept only Sparties and Bucknuts have bought into.
Along the lines of, "Hey ...I like the Harbaugh hire - it's good for Michigan, good for the BigTen. But ....I wouldn't want my coach coming across like THAT! on Cowherd. That just makes him and Michigan look bad...."
I read that initially as he was a 300 pound linebacker and was like, wow, how did that happen?!
Hopefully his thoughts are consistent among other recruits as well.
He ate a running back at a camp.
I heard it was a QB sandwich.
I remember reading that MSU was recruiting a 6'2" 425lb linebacker. I know it was a typo, but imagine it!
Needless to say, I'm relieved that we made his Top 18. So happy to be in such rarified air.
Good to know we're on his radar, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Take him along with one of Bush and Jones and the ILB group is very strong in this class.
