Would You Rather Beat MSU or OSU This Season?
Being that this is the first season under the Harbaugh regime, it would wise to temper our expectations. However, it's pretty safe money that we won't lose both games at home with Rudock under center. Assuming we beat at least one them, which one do you prefer? OSU or MSU?
This implies the person to which you were responded is much less intelligent than average as the betting lines are set by the average money being spent not some super insightful guru.
They adjust to the money being put down, but someone has to establish an opening line.
1. As Timmay stated, lines move based on betting patterns. However, there is always an opening line, established by people who are paid to know what they are doing.
2. The comment was more so meant to be a dig at the person I was replying to, who was trolling, and whose comment is now deleted. That comment basically said that this board is the only place where Michigan would be put in the same sentence as MSU and OSU.

A comment that shows on the android app is deleted elsewhere. Kind of makes this exchange confusing for those not on the app.
I saw it on the android app too. Even without the comment visible it seems kind of clear that you were not responding to something else...

in that scenario that we also beat PSU.
2-10 would be bad no matter who those two wins are against.
Hypothetical, would you take 2-10 with those two wins, or 10-2 with those two losses?
Agree. That's such a sparty thing to say. I'd much rather go 10-2 with losses to msu and osu, than 2-10 beating them and losing to everyone else. No matter how you slice it, 2-10 is an utter failure of a season.
the worst case needs to be 3-9 with victories against OSU, MSU and PSU.
3-9 is only acceptable with those wins.
As to the OP's question, OSU. Every time OSU. I hate those pig fuckers.

But the wins being against OSU, MSU, and PSU would make it a lot easier to swallow.
/phrasing
pigs have standards!
That would be the fluke of all fluke seasons since those are pretty much the three best teams on our schedule. But of all 3-9 scenarios, sure I'd prefer that one.
but he did beat OSU who was the defending National Champion and was going to win another one had they beat us. I'll take that same scenario if we can only beat one this year.
So did Mo. So did Lloyd. (also Rodriguez and Hoke lulz).
It's rather unusual for a first year head coach to beat Sparty for whatever reason, but it's also unusual for a first year head coach to lose to OSU.
That said, I think beating OSU would say a lot more about the direction of the program than beating MSU but losing to OSU.

It may not be so bizarre when you consider that Bo, Lloyd, and Hoke faced off against MSU on the road and got the Buckeyes at home in each of their first seasons as head coach. Moeller was the only one who managed to beat OSU on the road in his first year; and we have already discussed the screw job that lead to us losing to MSU at home in 1990.
Agreed but three of those went on to have ridiculously good records against MSU.
I can suffer the indignity of losing to MSU one more season--largely becasue I don't live in Michigan and don't run into a lot of Sparty fans. Knocking OSU on their behinds--especially if they are on the path to another playoff appearance--would be divine.
Whichever one is the biggest threat to do something really good this season.
MSU is big, especially with in-state recruiting.
But...
OSU IS THE DEVIL, HITLER, AND EVERY OTHER PIECE OF CRAP THAT EVER EXISTED!!!!!
I deal with waaaaaay too many OSU fans here on the border. The thing is that I hear about The Game for 6 months or more. People cannot wait to come in and get their teeth cleaned wearing their OSU garb and say, "How about that National Championship game? You had to be rooting for the Big Ten right?" Ugh. Make it stop.
The fact they are coming in to get their teeth cleaned is most surprising to me.
I meant tooth.

OSU is the top dog right now, and I don't really feel like we can say Michigan is back until we take down a quality OSU team. Beating MSU is great, but I will more than happily deal with the sting of losing to them if it means watching Urban Meyer and Co. make the long drive one to Columbus with their tails between their legs, knowing we ruined their perfect season and repeat national title hopes.

There is a realistic chance UM beats an undefeated OSU, yet OSU still goes on to win the conference (having the tie-break over MSU/PSU) and make the playoffs (as a one loss conference champion, defending National Champion with probable quality wins over Va. Tech/MSU/PSU/B1G West Champion), and wins the national title again (because why not, it's my hypothetical?). That would certainly be an interesting season.
new college football landscape, what makes the OSU game more "important" than the State game. I am well aware of the historical significance of the rivalry and what The Game is all about, but I think that the idea that "schedules can go out the window" when these teams play died with the BCS and now even more so with the playoff. I think if anything, the State game has to be considered more important because it is played first and any and every loss means the same thing in terms of BIG championship game and playoff implications.
I am buying that. But losing at home to State this year after they took us the Red Wedding the last two years would not be good either, especially for in-state recruiting.
Beating spart won't change the historical spartin.
Our QB play is equal to OSU when we are talking 4th string.
