Zordich as Assistant
I'm told that YSU Assistant Mike Zordich is leaving the Penguins to take a assistant coaching position on Jim Harbaugh's staff at Michigan

I'm assuing he's taking the role of the DB coach?

Wikipedia already has him listed as Michigan's defensive backs coach.
From Youngstown (who isn't?) so good Ohio recruiting chops.

Welp. So much for Manning being on the staff. If true.
This dude coached Eagles' safeties in 2011 and 12... that's a tirefire we still haven't recovered from.
Hopefully it was personnel, not coaching.

Was that the "dream team?"

I haz sad.

2011 was. Don't remind me.
2012 was the whole here let's try an OLine coach as our Defensive Coordinator and see what happens year.
2013 we got Chip.

I think the assumption is that the OC/OL is already a heavy load and that there should be another set of eyes on the OL (with TEs grouped with either Ts or WRs)

Does this mean no room for Manning? EDIT: comment above hints at this.

Upvoted due to you surviving in Youngstown and today especially of all days. Hang in there. I'm from there as well.

Don't be surprised if there is another Harbaugh on the staff too...
January 13th, 2015 at 2:39 PM ^
You're referencing Jim's son who is coaching with the Ravens right now correct?
January 13th, 2015 at 2:38 PM ^
This is the guy who played d-back for the Eagles in the 90's right?

Has to be an attempt by Jimmy to get someone on staff with Ohio recruiting chops. After they whiffed on the guy from Kentucky they probably felt like there was a need considering most of the other coaches have their hands in the West and South.

as well since nobody knows his timeline to stay. Some overlap is ok for that region of the country due to the talent it produces.

Errr.....what makes this guy qualified?
His coaching experience was with my team (the Eagles), and I've never so much as heard his name before. Also, apparently he coached during Andy Reid's last few seasons, which were terrible.

Harbaugh obviously can not identify talent.
January 13th, 2015 at 2:49 PM ^
He could turn out to be great. However, all of the hires up to this point have had good track records. I've been excited about each of them. There's nothing about this guy that stands out as....much of anything. He was a coach on a few terrible Eagles' teams and apparently coached high school before that.

good position coaches. Rob Ryan was a considered a good DC, but you wouldn't know it from watching the Saint's defense this past year.

Then you sir must be pretty young because he played safety for your team once upon a time.
January 13th, 2015 at 2:52 PM ^
Yep. His career ended right around the time I really got into sports. It didn't help that the Eagles were mediocre or worse for most of the 90's.

Double post.

Considering that coaches on losing teams get a lot of blame from their fans, maybe that's a good thing?

Here's the link to his Youngstown State coaching bio.
There's also a "mic'd up" video on the bio...embedded below.

One thing of note is that he coached at cardinal mooney in ohio and therefore may have connections from that time, as well.
