there is no right answer.
6 deserving teams this year.
Or 5, if they could simply crown Baylor the "one true champion".

if you go back and look through the years with the Big 12 in a two way tie for the division, the head to head winner represented the division in the conference title game.

The further down the QB depth chart they go the better their offense (and defense!) seems to get.
More seriously, it may be a cliche, but it did look like OSU came with a lot more fire. Wisconsin was flat from the kick off, completely inept.
Jeez, a bad 5-7 Michigan team was able to go toe-to-toe with OSU for 50 minutes. Wisconsin was done after 2 minutes. In what rational universe is Michigan able to mount three 75 yard plus drives with plenty of running yardage against OSU, while Wisconsin and Melvin Gordon gained just 2.9 yards per carry and looked terrible all night?
Though it is a thread for a different day, I just cannot imagine that all three OSU QBs will stick around for 2015. I say Braxton Miller is the odd man out. He will have his degree and would maximize his NFL draft position by going elsewhere.

In sports kayfabe, I hate OSU as much as anyone. But they deserve to be in the playoff. If they don't, the Bammers will obliterate them. I think they had a great season, all things considered. Besides, I don't want to see a precedent set in which the Big Ten Champion with one loss doesn't get in. It could hurt Michigan down the road.

Totally agree. I just can't think of a scenario where OSU gets in. TCU and OSU common opponent: Minnesota. TCU beat them more soundly. End of story.

This is why I hate weekly polls. They start from scratch each week. The you can't drop them based on last week's poll is the worst argument. TCU won, but OSU defeated a ranked team and TCU beat a ranked team. I mean ISU is a tire fire. Anything can happen.
December 7th, 2014 at 12:40 PM ^
Ohio lost to Va Tech at home.
TCU's only loss is to a team in the top 6.
The easy way out is to pick OSU to avoid debate about which big 12 should have gotten in.
OSU does have one more win than TCU and Baylor.
There's no right answer here.
December 7th, 2014 at 12:37 PM ^
So TCU playing ranked teams first and getting ahead into the rankings is somehow significant? TCU beat some ranked teams, got their boost, and now Baylor has done the same. We're back to square one.
December 7th, 2014 at 12:50 PM ^
Cumong WD, Michigan-level math time here - 3 spots!!!! Who's the guy in the sky-blue blazer pimping TCU? I get Herbie boosting osu, but that guy makes some sense - what did TCU do yesterday to drop?
December 7th, 2014 at 1:23 PM ^
Everyone else beat a ranked team in a conference championship game and added to their resume. TCU's resume stayed the same by beating a tomato can. You snooze, you lose...

The Big 12 chaos between TCU and Baylor splits the vote and makes it easy to pick OSU to sidestep the whole issue, which I think the committee will do.
Stupid move by the B12. Just pick a champion and rally behind them, like Delany did with OSU.
December 7th, 2014 at 12:30 PM ^
Honestly I wouldn't mind OSU getting in for the sake of the Big Ten's reputation. Then losing in a competitive game against Bama. It wouldn't really change OSU's bragging rights or anything. They will have a very successful season regardless but if they are able to show that the Big Ten has a pulse that will be good for us if we ever get back to prominence.

The B1G does not need yet another stain in its britches against the SEC, courtesy of OSU.

Actually, as much as I hate Saban and Cryer, this scenario makes as much sense as any possible for what's good for MICHIGAN! B1G gets in, osu doesn't win a game, but doesn't humiliate the conference.
Really taking some big-ass lemons and coming up with a glass of lemonade there - too tart, but in the glass not in the eye ;-)

OSU had wins recently that were close vs basement teams PSU UM and Indiana. Recency bias very strong. Only 2 wins of any quality. OSU hurt by the bad conference.
Also TCU destroyed Minn, OSU and Minn was a close game.
OSU is out IMO - if it was AP voters OSU would be in. But I think outside looking in with the committee.
Bama, Oregon, FSU, TCU IMO in that order.
If Baylor had played a Big 10 or ACC tomato can like Pitt they would be in over TCU. Horrid OOC.
December 7th, 2014 at 12:46 PM ^
but ESPN has announced that OSU made it. How did they forget OSU's performances against Michigan, Penn State and Indiana.
I guess they punished th Big 12 for no chmpionship game?
Plus, a major dose of the recency bias.
December 7th, 2014 at 12:34 PM ^
Yahoo TV shows this as running from 12:30 to 3:00. Is this thing really 3.5 effing hours?
Anyone know when they will actually announce the teams/seeds?

Man, you never want "Tragic" Tom Rinaldi as the reporter at your site for a selection show.
December 7th, 2014 at 12:38 PM ^
Everybody here is saying OSU won't get in because they are comparing all the resumes on paper. I feel the committee will use the so-called "eye test" and pick OSU.
December 7th, 2014 at 12:44 PM ^
Ohio has a better paper resume than either of those teams. The Big 12 is not good this year, Ohio has the worst loss but a tougher schedule overall and a championship game that they crushed

No
GA Tech v MSU is 1 bowl
The other 3 will be mix and matches. I think Boise State goes to Fiesta vs the lowest ranked team (Missouri, Georgia Tech, Arizona, Georgia, etc)
The other 2 games will be some combination of Baylor, loser of OSU v TCU, Miss State and most likely Ole Miss.

I have this feeling that the teams that end up in spots 5 through 7 will forever remember this as "The Day Of The Aggrieved", so this will be very interesting.
Also, Iowa State.....landmine? Only if it self-desctructed. That was a drubbing and a half yesterday.
