Tickets for Iowa-Michigan Women's BB Game Going for $500 and Up
Iowa's Caitlin Clark didn't set the all-time women's basketball scoring record today, so she's going to set it on Thursday at home against Michigan, unless we can hold her to under 8 points. The game is at 8 p.m. on Peacock.
I didn't check all the sites, but on StubHub, the get-in price is about $500. Center court is about $1,000. I'm guessing one of the highest-priced women's games ever.
Good for them and good for us! National spotlight on our women's team. Now win the game!

How exactly is it good for us ?

Unparalleled attention for our women's basketball team. Biggest TV audience they've ever played in front of. Have to believe they're very happy about this.

Clark is going to make history either way, but M needs to do well as a team to capitalize on the attention.

Thank God it's on Peacock. Now, I won't even have to consider watching.

Also, good for her.

Interesting decision their coach made today making her a distributor the first half of the 4th quarter so she could set the record at home. Probably will cost them the B1G regular season title.

Those ticket prices have been consistent for Iowa all season. She has been selling out arenas everywhere. There was a line to get into the game against Maryland 2.5 hours before it started, that was not to get tickets, just to get in. It was incredible.

That's because most womens games are GA seating. Ticket prices have been nothing close to this, but they have been close to $100 for some games up until today when she had a chance at the record.

Peacock, eh? No one will see it.

$500? And to think I went to redeem my ticket stub for a free milkshake at Pizza House.

When it brings all the boys to the yard you'll see it was worth it.

Meanwhile, I bought my Purdue Michigan tickets for 12 dollars. Jesus.

I simply don't believe it. I believe someone will ask that much on Stubhub, But I want proof of an actual purchase. We couldn't fill Crisler during the Beilein era.

Agree on whether someone will pay it but all of Iowa's women's home bball games are sold out. They sold all their tickets before the season started. During their telecast today, they showed that even Iowa's women's away games are almost always sellouts.

Caitlin Clark has become a phenomenon. It's a bit like when Tiger Woods was dominating golf and announcers would say, "the whatever open took place this weekend - Tiger Woods was seventh at five under par." And that was it. If NIL were based on immediate commercial value, she'd be worth more than the entire rest of the sport right now.
So, good for her. It's too bad the record has to come against Michigan. It'll be a circus, with a long break when the record is set.
Not so good for the league, wasting the opportunity on Peacock. That was such a dumb move, taking the bird bucks for the short term when featured games on other outlets reach so many more people.

Of course I never suggested it wouldn't sell out--I watch almost all the Iowa games--I only questioned the $500 ticket prices, which there are. But good seats are available for $250.
