was there worry he would leave?
wasn’t the point of the Moore hire because he would keep most of the team and staff together?

I've seen various rumblings about Clink and Elson not necessarily being slam dunk returns. Now given Michigan insider track records lately I'm not believing anything either way till an official announcement is made

How anyone still trusts insider boards is beyond me
It’s literally just made up contradictory ragebait 90% of the time

Don’t tell Sal
January 31st, 2024 at 4:23 PM ^
Easy: just ignore the 90% (true insiders know when to spot a red herring!) and know that the 10% of times they’re right proves that they’re certifiable insiderz

There is only one insider, and it's Sam. And he's not plugged in as much as insiders for other teams. Webb is the only one you can trust when he says that he's heard something, or has a source, etc etc.

I stopped trusting Sam when he openly mocked and ridiculed people who said Oliver Martin was thinking of transferring a few years back. One day after Sam did this, Oliver Martin entered the transfer portal.
Multiple times since then, Sam has showed his ass. Total hack who isn't any different than the rest of the "insider" hacks who sucker money off Michigan fans for fake scoops.
I feel bad for fans who pay real money for that shit.

I think “total hack” might be a bit harsh.

Allow myself to quote myself from a different thread:
Sam (I think) has said that Minter loves himself some Mike Elston.
If Minter wants Elston then Harbaugh will want Elston. And I think what we're learning is Harbaugh is going to get what he wants if money has any say in the matter.
That puts the whole Clint Hurtt thing in a new light, because maybe Moore was looking at who could coach the D-line. But Hurtt's not an option anyway. (I know, people didn't want him. Not the point I'm making here.)
I have no idea who is doing what. I guess Minter isn't even officially anywhere yet. But we notably haven't named a DC. I would not be surprised if Michigan is still beholden to waiting for all the LA Chargers dust to settle so we even know what we have left.

"but hurtt"
I see what you did there.
January 31st, 2024 at 3:50 PM ^
I actually didn't notice it until after I hit save. But then I was happy I did.
January 31st, 2024 at 3:53 PM ^
I have a difficult time believing that if Elston was leaving that he wouldn't be out recruiting.
January 31st, 2024 at 4:01 PM ^
I wouldn't read too much into that; Minter was reportedly out on the recruiting trail last week...

Saban was interviewing an assistant coach (or maybe it was analyst) 5 minutes before telling the team he was retiring. lol, most coaches do their job until the second they no longer have that job.
January 31st, 2024 at 5:28 PM ^
Exactly. They're professionals. What message does it send to future employers, if you're checked out the minute you know you got a better gig?
February 1st, 2024 at 8:15 AM ^
Fairly confident Saban didn’t care what his future employers thought.
January 31st, 2024 at 4:57 PM ^
There is a worry anyone might leave with moving parts, money and position promotions available.
January 31st, 2024 at 5:54 PM ^
I assume that Harbaugh will go hard after every remaining assistant if he wants them. They’re all vulnerable.
January 31st, 2024 at 7:46 PM ^
He must have meant literally the Chargers would be "Michigan west."
January 31st, 2024 at 8:11 PM ^
Indeed. Which begs the question: Has anyone heard from Carl Grapentine lately??? lol
January 31st, 2024 at 4:03 PM ^
Elston to DC? Has experience in two modern and successful systems with some overlap in scheme, position group has been the strength of the program and knows the current roster.
January 31st, 2024 at 11:35 PM ^
I’m with you. Obviously I don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes, but I really thought Clink or Elston (or both?) would get the job pretty quick.
January 31st, 2024 at 4:32 PM ^
I think Warde told Jim that he wouldn't get a statue of himself at Schemmy hall if he continued to poach UofM coaches.
January 31st, 2024 at 4:58 PM ^
Warde won’t be around when that decision is made.
January 31st, 2024 at 11:36 PM ^
What makes you think Warde won’t be here until he dies?
February 1st, 2024 at 8:38 PM ^
He is bad at his job and eventually that will catch up to you.
January 31st, 2024 at 5:20 PM ^
I think we've all learned, in general, just don't put up statues of anybody. Just don't.

Have not heard of any on campus visits. I think this is the last weekend before the quiet period

Who is he outrecruiting?
