Sam Webb Postgame
A little long but strong analysis and a great passionate rant at the end:
- Never seen a tighter team - Brotherhood
- Silencing the naysayers
- Michigan showed Washington a level of Defense and Physicality that they had never seen
- The Don - dealing with frustration, never letting it affect the team, a home run hitter
- Michigan's commitment to run
- Michigan's Defense
- Minter is elite, the best DC in the country
- Made Penix uncomfortable through pressure, moving him off his spot, hitting him in the mouth, varying & disguising coverages, and taking away fade routes, all of which led to him becoming inaccurate, missing wide-open receivers (on coverage busts), and throwing picks
- Mikey Sainristil, Will Johnson - studs
- Blake Corum - what a legacy
- JJ McCarthy
- Only lost 2 games as a starterGreat leader
- Great leader
- He was the reason many good players committed to UM in '20
- Played through injury
- Didn't complain when we ran 32 straight times - team first
- Coach Jim Harbaugh
- How he turned it around
- 50/50 he comes back
- He accomplished what he set out to do, restore UM Football to its former glory
From the beginning, 42 min, 21 obviously on 2x speed:
The finale, Sam's entertaining finishing rant:

Please pardon the typo (Great Leader), it's late.

What other game did JJ lose besides TCU?
January 9th, 2024 at 5:24 AM ^
That was going to be my question as well.
January 9th, 2024 at 6:11 AM ^
None.
January 9th, 2024 at 6:38 AM ^
Believe he only lost one game as a starter in HS as well.
January 9th, 2024 at 8:24 AM ^
As a starter, none.
He was around when Michigan lost to MSU in 2021 and he played in that game, but he didn't start.

He also played as much or more than Cade in the blowout playoff loss to Georgia, but McNamara started that game as well.

Sorry, you're right, the lines got crossed in my brain and I thought the MSU loss was in '22.

Video was playing at 2x. Lost to TCU twice.

I’ve gotten 4 hrs sleep and just rewatched the game. Much like a celebratory cigar, I drank a Stella that’s been in my fridge since Georgia boat raced us. It’s been a symbol in my house that I never thought I’d open. It tasted like drinking bong water, yet was the best beer I’ve ever had. I’m Tired, hungover and yet never felt better in my life.

Sam's post game rant was GREAT!!!!!!!! He told it like it TI-IS!!!!!!!!!

I liked at the end how he was like, "Sparty you get some, ohio state you get some, penn state you can get some too". Made me laugh this morning.

That’s gold Jerry!

The bullet points are great. Silencing the naysayers really hits it. The naysayers now have all offseason to stew over this Michigan accomplishment.
January 9th, 2024 at 8:01 AM ^
Just say to them forcefully...Take That!
January 9th, 2024 at 8:25 AM ^
Let a naysayer know!
January 9th, 2024 at 7:52 AM ^
it is great to see DON scoring first two TDs on two great runs.

Love Sam Webb

Absolutely love his closing statements. What a great piece. I'm with Sam: if Jim decides to leave you pat him on the back, thank him for all he's done and make the right hire to carry on what he has built. Is it Sherrone Moore? Jesse Minter? I really don't know, but I know this: whioever it is better make sure Warde will empty his pockets to keep the rest of this staff together. Losing Minter, Moore or any of the assistants would be bad and they deserve to be the highest paid at their positions in the country after proving they're the best at what they do. A side note is I'd go out and rehire CP as well. Sad he took any of the heat for what that fool Stalions did.

All we can do is promote the closest assistant whether it be Moore as HC or co coordinators. Just keep the engine revving and don’t pull a Ryan day and fuk it up!

Thanks for the great summary.

Newkirk is so uncomfortable in all these postgames. I get needing to move things along but he's so awkward about it. Not an on camera personality. You could tell Sam was getting annoyed by the end with his wet blanket energy. It's a frickin national championship. Let Sam cook!

I AM fired up, Sam!
