I feel like The Ringer took a shortcut there. I don't consider myself (or Rym) a fan blogger. I'm a message board poster on the fan blog MGoBlog. Which makes it sound even more insane.

It was in a Diary. That's basically an MGoMiniBlog.

Aren’t we all just fans of Seth and we happen to read other things and this blog?

I didn't realize we were supposed to read other things.

It’s still true. Mich just caved because the Partridge thing and court cases - even when in the right - are far from a sure thing

I clicked through to scroll the Ringer article and got through July before bailing. Good lord am I old and out of touch with "pop culture".

I can confidently state that if they had done of these articles when I was 25, I would still have no idea what two-thirds of it meant. And I am 100% OK with that.

The Ringer is a magazine for Millennials by Millennials, and I'm a Gen Xer, so most of the pop culture they obsess over is lost on me too.

Have you listened to the new Peter Gabriel album I/O? It's supposed to be really good but I just haven't gotten around to listening to it.

PG is one of my favorites and the new album is very good. One would hope so after 20 years!

There is a huge GenX influence on The Ringer, including its founder, Bill Simmons. The whole thing is modeled after the GenX writer Chuck Klosterman. His whole schtick is writing about pop culture as if it were some profound intellectual pursuit.
You’re right that it’s very millennial in that they hired a bunch of millennial writers, but the GenX editors very much steer the writing to clone the voice of Klosterman. This is why you see what appears to be a lot of well written articles from a technical standpoint that attempt to make the vapid sound deep.

They should quote me, Clarence Boddicker. I may not be much for fancy law talk, but...hmmm, yeah, that's all I got.

What? You're THE Clarence Boddicker! What about "Bitches, Leave!" and "Can you fly, Bobby?"?
