Sparty NO! more scholarship QBs.

They're 2024 3* QB just decommitted. Here's the money quote from reddit:
Michigan State now has one rostered quarterback not currently committed to the portal (walk-on Andrew Schorfhaar who has two career pass attempts), and no committed quarterbacks for their 2024 class.
Whew, Lad.
This follows last year's transfer of Payton Thorne to Auburn, and the three recent portal entries of Kim, Leavitt, and Houserman or whatever their names are.

They have to be getting one of the two OSU QBs. DJU or the younger kid.
December 1st, 2023 at 10:10 PM ^
What's the over/under on OrSU transfers they bring in this year? 5? 15?
December 1st, 2023 at 11:44 PM ^
Between OrSU promoting the beloved DC to head coach, and Smith pissing a lot of people off on his way out, hopefully Sparty doesn't poach too many.
December 1st, 2023 at 10:22 PM ^
I think I remember seeing DJU or one of his family members saying something negative about Smith recently, so that seems unlikely (iirc)
December 1st, 2023 at 10:38 PM ^
DJU is not joining up for a rebuild. He picked Oregon State because they were already a good team looking for a QB. Moore’s father (apparently) said he wants to play behind a line that will protect him. That is a couple of years away. Chiles (the other Oregon State QB) is presumably the penciled in starter at Oregon State. I realize Oregon State will be in a JV league next year but there will be some continuity on staff. Their stud RB (Martinez) said he was coming back so they could be a good team still. I am guessing Smith will get a midwestern QB looking to move up. Something like Toledo’s QB. For example. Staee is going to be bad next year. Why would a “name” QB sign up for that?
December 1st, 2023 at 10:48 PM ^
DJU will probably stay out West. Wouldn't be surprised to see him at UCLA. I get the Chiles-OSU angle, but I would assume that if the kid is good, he may prefer Oregon or Washington since they will have new QBs next year.

NTOSU
December 1st, 2023 at 10:08 PM ^
I know Smith from closely watching ntOSU
they'll have a good QB
December 1st, 2023 at 10:12 PM ^
Yeah. He can hit the portal pretty hard to roster build fairly easily. They'll field a team, and unlike this year, they'll get coaching. It'll be okay.
December 1st, 2023 at 10:40 PM ^
He's batting 490, never coached in a conference that requires defense, and comes from the Mike Riley coaching tree.
The guy left his alma mater in a beautiful place to coach a 4-8 team in east landfill with 30 guys in the portal and an already difficult conference adding 4 teams better than his.
MSU is all but guaranteed to be middling to shit and I don't have to watch the game next year to know they get absolutely spanked in the big house.
December 2nd, 2023 at 12:53 PM ^
You in state alums are too blinded by your hate to be objective
neg me all you like.... Smith is an excellent coach, best coach they've had since Mork
It's not a slight on our team to be objective, MSU will be a solid team after a 1 or 2 rebuilding years
I don't see anywhere in my post where I state MSU will be better than Michigan next year
December 1st, 2023 at 10:18 PM ^
THEY WERE ALL SCARED OF PAYTON THORNE THUS HE TRANSFERRED BECAUSE THORNE WAS SCAREEEEED OF ALL THE TALENT BEHIND HIM
In realitiy Kim and Hauser look like shit. Total shit. Leavitt looked like a really good player, true freshman. Unfortunately Smith shit on his face being a local boy in Oregon and could care less about him.
Anyhow per RCMB Dante Moore, Chiles, and 7 more QBs are coming in to fight for the Heisman the next 3 years straight. Granted they have 30 kids in the portal BUT DONT WORRY ABOUT THAT.
December 2nd, 2023 at 6:26 AM ^
All those dudes coming in... aren't they worried about player safety?
December 1st, 2023 at 10:20 PM ^
I’d bet DJ ends up following him there. He’d literally be handed the starting job.
December 1st, 2023 at 10:24 PM ^
If you land there...so would you.
December 1st, 2023 at 10:25 PM ^
Is there enough talent to further develop and win? When he went to Oregon State the answer was yes.
December 1st, 2023 at 10:41 PM ^
The last thing a QB, with possible NFL aspirations, wants is to join a team rebuilding its o-line from scratch.
MSU had a below average line and they are all in the portal or done.
QBs don’t show out throwing off their ass. It’s going to be ugly next year.
The shame of it.
December 2nd, 2023 at 6:45 AM ^
Someone like Shaddeur Sanders didn't have the option of not going with his dad and it was a step up in leagues.
If a lot of their defense also bails, it will indeed be a very long season.
December 1st, 2023 at 11:46 PM ^
... and destroy his stock playing behind a terrible OL. DJU has way better options.
December 2nd, 2023 at 12:38 AM ^
DJ would also be the clear starter for a lot of better teams. For example, FSU and Oregon unless they find someone else in the portal.
MSU will probably find an upgrade in the portal, but their QB depth is going to be a problem.
December 1st, 2023 at 10:24 PM ^
Serious question? What's their plan for their bowl game?
December 1st, 2023 at 10:27 PM ^
That is...not a serious question.
December 2nd, 2023 at 12:42 AM ^
You got me.
December 1st, 2023 at 10:28 PM ^
LMAO, not a lot of bowl games for teams with 4-8 records.
December 1st, 2023 at 10:55 PM ^
To flush twice, thus ensuring all the sparty goes down...
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:20 AM ^
They should use YouTube TV, and split the screen into 4 separate bowl games. Call it Sparty-vision.
December 1st, 2023 at 10:30 PM ^
So many QBs in the portal already and more to come… they’ll likely land at least a few.
As long as it’s not Dante Moore!
December 1st, 2023 at 10:43 PM ^
I'd be fine with Dante Moore to MSU. Jonathon Smith can deal with Dante's grandma telling him how to run his offense while Dante gets lit up in the pocket not knowing how to use his legs.
December 1st, 2023 at 11:54 PM ^
Dante isn't going to Sparty. His dad told Sam Webb, he's going somewhere that will develop him, and that has an O-Line to protect him... that's not Sparty.
December 2nd, 2023 at 2:58 AM ^
Yeah I feel like this is a situation where Harbaugh would be like "what did we learn."
Dante: "don't take candy from strangers."
Harbaugh: "that's right. Now ride the pine, keep your eyes open, and cheer on Jadyn."
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:46 AM ^
I wouldn’t be surprised if he lands at LSU. MSU is gonna be a hot mess considering they basically need to build the entire roster from the portal
December 1st, 2023 at 10:33 PM ^
They'll just have to go Wildcat on every down. Who needs a QB?
December 1st, 2023 at 10:42 PM ^
Houserman - LOL!
Respekt as always...
December 2nd, 2023 at 12:12 AM ^
If you ain’t first, you’re . . . wait, you’re just last.
December 2nd, 2023 at 12:29 AM ^
Sounds like a rebuilding year.
December 2nd, 2023 at 6:21 AM ^
years.
December 2nd, 2023 at 1:12 AM ^
Maybe they can give Uncle Rico a shot as a walk on... he may have a chance.
December 2nd, 2023 at 5:43 AM ^
Couldn't happen to a more deserving team.
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:35 AM ^
that’s okay, graham crouch thinks it’s dante moore.
