College Football Gameday Open Thread
They're at JMU this morning, where everyone is hoping the NCAA makes some late decision to let them into the club.
Why give these guys clicks, you ask? Because Michigan accepted everything the B1G complained about and as such validated everything ever said. So get over it. Business as usual...

the crowd at Maryland keeps changing "fuck Jim Harbaugh" but nobody at home is hearing it because they keep muting the sound. good decision.
guy even warned them stop cussing. very crude bunch here.

Michigan’s students have a similar cheer reflecting on next week’s opponent. My guess is - it’ll be so loud that we’ll all hear it.
Go Blue!

Their basketball fans were pretty awful back in the ACC. IIRC they chanted about JJ Redick's 12-year old sister among other things.

I have been to Michigan basketball and football games at Maryland. They are radically different experiences. Basketball they are an engaged and nasty opponent. Football they never showed up.
November 18th, 2023 at 12:19 PM ^
Kinda like the teams.

Marvin Harrison Jr. will receive the "thanks for playing" Heisman participation award after another Buckeye shellacking at the hands of the Wolverines next week.

Anyone beside me notice Urban’s Scarlett & Gray sport coat? I’m sure it’s just a coincidence.
November 18th, 2023 at 10:44 AM ^
Maryland signs at big noon are weak. I have seen at least 5 that say the exact same thing.
November 18th, 2023 at 11:04 AM ^
Fox is still hyping Coach Prime. Did they see Colorado yesterday? Or for the last two months or so?
November 18th, 2023 at 11:07 AM ^
Urban said he's terrified to go to Ann Arbor next week and that he'll be velcro'd to Charles.
November 18th, 2023 at 11:09 AM ^
If only Charles could have a cart with a caged Wolverine…

F*ck ESPN
F*uck Urban Meyer
GO BLUE!
FREE HARBAUGH!
November 18th, 2023 at 11:15 AM ^
Both shows hit at the same time - Fox had Feldman talking how bad it is, switching over to ESPN showed Thamel starting up. Back to Fox to hear that Jim will be looking at the NFL next year from Feldman.
JFC - Some nobody on staff, in his first employment gig, bought a ticket for a friend to 'video tape' a game WITH AN iPHONE FROM THE 3RD DECK!!! And it's NOT EVEN CLEAR if that is actually against rules!!!
Recruiting violations? JFC - two kids that already signed their LOIs showed up during Covid and Harbaugh probably bought them lunch. WHO FUCKING CARES???
And for those reasons, Michigan is the world's worst cheater.
Fuck the fuck all the fucking way off.
I might still be angry about this...
November 18th, 2023 at 11:22 AM ^
Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous. They need to get that goddamn contract signed with Harbaugh ASAP.
November 18th, 2023 at 11:25 AM ^
I still think Michigan needs to fight back/get retribution against everyone after all this is over (after the season is over). They need to release whatever dirt they have on OSU for being bitch-ass snitches. They need to threaten to release whatever dirt they have on the other schools or threaten to leave the conference unless those other schools that wanted Michigan punished apologize or make up for it somehow. I'd be happy with Michigan not sharing any of its revenue for a 3 year period as a penalty. Pettiti needs to be replaced for how he's handled this whole thing. Also, I hope Michigan sues ESPN for libel.. I know they are an "opinion" show, but wasn't Dominion able to win a case against Fox News for the lies they spouted on their "opinion" shows?
Think about how unfair this whole thing is: just because a bunch of people, including the NCAA and ESPN, don't like Harbaugh, they can coordinate a PR smear campaign based on a level 2 violation to force him out and it looks like it's going to work. Harbaugh was upsetting the status quo of OSU being the top dog in the conference and trying to get some of the TV revenue to the players, and so they all decided that he has to go. I dont know why the B1G prefers OSU so much to Michigan but I digress. This would not happen to any other school. The SEC wouldn't allow this shit to happen to one of these schools. They protect each other. And if a scheme like this was reported against OSU or Bama or Georgia, it would be forgotten about almost immediately.
November 18th, 2023 at 11:34 AM ^
Wait a minute. Every network talks about the Recruiting Violations during Covid.
The NCAA talks about a level playing field - ensuring that teams with available funding don’t get a competitive advantage.
Texas spends $ 280K for Arch Manning’s OV.
Harbaugh can’t recall buying a couple of cheeseburgers (and fries - I believe) - for two already committed players when the campus was on lockdown.
If only there was enough money to cover the additional warranty costs for helmets with sideline communication equipment - like many high schools already use - this would be a complete non issue.
I want to understand who the PI firm is that provided the color coded Master Spreadsheet, and who told ESPN about the Suspension thirty minutes before Michigan was informed.
November 18th, 2023 at 11:32 AM ^
Feldman suggested Harbaugh would be suspended next season for both violations...when he would already have served the six game suspension covering both. So a season and a half of suspension for that piddly business? Come on, man. Does he listen to the shit he spews?
November 18th, 2023 at 11:35 AM ^
I guess I’ll just sit back and wait for the next low level violation to come out from somewhere else and watch the media lose their minds over it. Oh wait, it will be a two-liner on ESPN and nothing more, like this should’ve been.
Such bullshit.
November 18th, 2023 at 11:19 AM ^
Word from Charissa Thompson on the sidelines is that Sherrone Moore serenaded the team with a harp solo and Harbaugh plans to watch the game above the stadium using a jetpack.
November 18th, 2023 at 11:22 AM ^
I mean, if you gotta make stuff up on the sidelines, then make it funny and entertaining.
November 18th, 2023 at 11:26 AM ^
A jet pack?
”Harbaugh. James Joseph Harbaugh…. Some people just call me 007.”
November 18th, 2023 at 11:25 AM ^
Okay...Mark Ingram III stripping the ball from his dad was cute and awesome.
November 18th, 2023 at 11:26 AM ^
Michigan needs to drop the hammer and make a statement in College Park. Shut down the Maryland O and roll over the Maryland D with the run game!
November 18th, 2023 at 11:38 AM ^
Might Michigan decide to not attempt a single pass this game?
Let’s be honest about the passing / rushing game - and scoring.
Last time I checked - it doesn’t matter if you cross the goal line with a pass, or a handoff - it’s still six points.
Go Blue! One play, series, and game at a time.
November 18th, 2023 at 11:27 AM ^
I love to watch games, but no way on the talking heads. ESPN is anti-Michigan, and FOX has Urban front and center. Nope, I've got the Michigan preview on 97.1
Go Blue!!
November 18th, 2023 at 11:28 AM ^
Urbzzz still peddling the Michigan hasn’t played anyone nonsense wrt our defense.
November 18th, 2023 at 11:40 AM ^
I believe OSU defeated Penn State by 8 points at home.
Michigan defeated PSU by 9 points, on the road.
What you don’t hear is.. OSU’s best win. Is it over four loss Youngstown State? Three loss ND?
November 18th, 2023 at 11:42 AM ^
Just another OSU slappy. He did praise the defensive's hustle at least. Nothing on the scheme itself though.
November 18th, 2023 at 11:32 AM ^
I refuse to watch programming that openly insults me and my peer group on national television.
November 18th, 2023 at 11:35 AM ^
Watching talking heads today has me thinking that if someone is not a man of sacrifice and selflessness, he can never understand those who are such men.
It is quite plain to me that Harbaugh has his players in mind, first and foremost. This is where they and the rest of the staff have learned to operate this way for each other.
I don't know the details of what went into the decision settle. But I have a sturdy certainty that the principle behind it was that it is best for the players over the next two weeks, and the rest of their lives.
He knew that these other, disgusting human beings would be out there insinuating negative things about his character because he settled. But he's willing to take that hit. Remember his press conference on player revenue sharing. He knew they'd come after him for that, too.
They will never understand him. And they will never have the camaraderie, accomplishment, or joy of a team like this.
November 18th, 2023 at 11:44 AM ^
Great comment. That is Harbaugh’s persona. He’s been the epitome of “taking any heat” since he arrived.
An old coach had a saying - “If things didn’t go well, I did it. If things went ok, we did it. If things went great, the did it.” Bear Bryant said that.
Harbaugh adopts the same approach.
Go Blue..

Shawn Merriman was a great player and is a great representative of Maryland football. But he is no Charles Woodson when it comes to hype speeches...

GameDay just jumped the shark. A shirtless Pat McAfee next to a Barstool commenter. We have reached peak Idiocracy.
